While not definite, the talk going around is that the event would be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday 4/2, the night before WWE's Wrestlemania 21. TNA sources would only comment that conversations were ongoing, but nothing was definite yet.
I personally think this could be a very big step in getting TNA to that next level. It almosts harkens memories from the old "Clash of the Champions" days.
We all know that Wrestlemania is the Super Bowl/World Series of professional wrestling. And if you're like me, all you think about that weekend is wrestling (much like all I think about Super Bowl weekend is football). If people are in that "wrestling mindset" they may wanna give these other guys a shot (for the first time or again). That's where TNA has gotta pull out all of the stops.

Actually I think three hours is great, get about five or six good matches on paper, build up the hype, let them go. The ppv's have all been either really good or great. A three hour special could do the same.

If you're trying to showcase the product to the unititated, that's a big committment to ask of them. I understand that much time gives potentially more airtime for more people, but aren't we just looking at five short matches and a buncha skits and promos? And on WrestleMania weekend, won't they just haul out all the castoffs like Nash and DX?

No sense in going halfway with an endeavour like this. The point is clearly to steal some of WrestleMania's thunder, and they're not going to accomplish that with an extended version of Impact. As Mayhem says, this does sound a lot like the original Clash of the Champions, and remember the NWA gave away a lot on that show to get it to work. TNA will need to trot out a pretty decent card to get attention on that weekend, and they'll need three hours to do it with today's standards.

Yes. If I'm not mistaken, they took place at the same time. Can't help you with the ratings info, though. FWIW, Clash VI (featuring the Flair/Steamboat 2/3 falls match) went on opposite WrestleMania V as well.

I think TNA's got some great performers and wrestling, but they need to start changing up the main event and stop relying on the old has beens and the washed up established stars. Their PPV's now though do seem consistently more worth the money as far as wrestling action goes than WWE's.
