So if this new show for TNA starts on fox sports on June 13th or whatever it was can someone tell me which channel that is? Like is it Fox that carries 24, 70's show etc?(doubtful). Or is it something not regularly on basic cable. More so i should ask anyone in Canada which channel or station this is since ours are primely the same.
Please enlighten me
Fuckin' rights, I already got half a fuckin' buzz on
No it is not the same Fox that carries 70's Show and 24. It is Fox Sports which is a different channel and I do not think it is available in Canada unless you can pick it up on some satellite dish, like maybe starchoice.
Fox Sports Net is the one that is (allegedly) getting TNA. Fox Sports World Canada is the channel that is most commonly available on cable packages up here.

Beings that WCW spent so much time on Turner, and WWE has been on USA and now SpikeTV, FX sounds like a feasible possibility for the TNA show...just a thought though.

Fox Sports Net isn't FX though. Mainly, Fox Sports Net is the old SportsChannels and other local cable sports networks that amalgamated in the late 90's when FSN thought it could make a run against ESPN. Weekday afternoons are the only real time they have, since prime time is either a sports event in the local region or I MAX and Best Damn Sports Show etc. Thus, should TNA get this deal, their target audience will be the unemployed.
These are desperate times. And desperate times call for desperate measures. Thus, its time to break out the Cubs/White Sox/Red Sox call to put the Kaiser back on the throne.
What really sucks is that over here in Comcast land, we get FSN and a Comcast channel dividing the time on one channel. So I don't know if we will even be able to choose to watch the new TNA show. I know that I would; because of this I also wish that Fox had chosen to put TNA on FX, not FSN.

No, but FX is a similar type network to USA/TNN/SpikeTV/TBS/TNT. It would be able to free up a nice primetime slot of original programming, provided, a lot of people get FX. Plus, FX only rarely has baseball games, so it's not gonna get pre-empted by a lot of programs, as it would if it had a good timeslot on a FSN network.

Woah, I always thought a large amount of pro-wrestling fans WERE unemployeed! Does this mean assumptions made of the crowd at the last house show I went to were wrong...?
Seriously, I know they want people who have money to burn to be watching the shows, but unfortunately, the people who waste the most money in life aren't generally responsible, job-holding people.
Students and the unemployeed, that's gotta be a large demographic that they try to tap.
It's Fox Sports Net, and it'll either be Friday at 3PM or Sunday at 10AM, I believe. Right now, they've got the Friday slot and would like to have the Sunday one instead, but it costs more.
(No ones said which time zone those times are far; Melter is assuming EST and making assumptions based off that, but because it's many small channels instead of a East and Pacific feed, your local time may vary and the show may be pre-empted but whatever local sports are scheduled.)
They're supposed to offially announce it this Wednesday. There's no word if the show will be made available internationally. They'll surely try to work out agreements to do that but who knows how long they'll last.
Is the show set to be an hour long? Or would it be shorter or longer? Is TNA still going to be having the weekly PPV's after this?
Hopefully TNA's cable show will be more of a benefit for the fed than it was for ECW when they got that one hour show on TNN. I'd really also like to see a healthy growth of another pro wrestling fed that will hopefully get more fans interested, and give good competition for WWE. I think if WWE had another similar show to compete with, it would be a good thing for both products. I mean more so than the WWE's own "brand extension" competition. Overall I really don't hate the brand extension, some good has come out of it, but it seems whenever one show is good, the other is almost unwatchable.

Prowrestlinginc.com is saying that the name of the show is going to be NWA:TNA Impact, though Meltzer is saying they are dropping NWA and are going to start working as TNAW. They are expected to make the announcement tonight.
When I leave this world, I want to go the same way I came in, naked, covered in goo, and screaming in fear! LAter God bless Mercer
TNAW is a horrible name ... if they do that, then they couldn't use the whole "this is the same Heavyweight Championship that Ric Flair, Harley Race, Ricky Steamboat, etc. wore" ...
Fridays at 3pm EST ... yeah there's a real winner.
Hmmm.... Well in a months time i can probably watch all the nwa tna i want as i'm moving out and my new flat has sky (with the wrestling channel) even if they are old episodes.
Ha ha wrestling whenever i want switch on the tv and its there
Total Nonstop Action Wrestling & Fox Sports Net Announce National Weekly Television Program
Program to be filmed in Universal Studios @ Universal Orlando Resort
May 13, 2004 (Nashville, TN) - Total Nonstop Action Wrestling announced Wednesday night on its weekly Pay-Per-View that Fox Sports Net will begin televising Total Nonstop Action Wrestling "Impact!" on Fridays at 3:00 PM local.
"Impact!" will debut on June 4th and will be filmed at Universal Studios @ Universal Orlando Resort. Two-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett will appear on Fox Sports Net's "Best Damn Sports Show Period" tonight (Thursday) to talk about this ground breaking television deal.
"The national telecast of "Impact!" on Fox Sports Net marks a milestone for TNA Entertainment and the wrestling industry," Dixie Carter, President of TNA Entertainment, LLC said. "Total Nonstop Action Wrestling has continued to grow and exceed expectations over our history. As we celebrate our 2nd anniversary in June, we are excited this opportunity with Fox Sports Net and Universal Studios Orlando will expose a wider range of viewers to our distinctive brand of professional wrestling."
Total Nonstop Action Wrestling is "The New Wrestling Alternative" and features some of the most well-known names in wrestling today like Jeff Jarrett, Raven, D'Lo Brown, Sting and Konnan along with the industry's hottest new stars such as AJ Styles, Abyss, Chris Harris, James Storm and CBS' Survivor Pearl Islands star Jonny Fairplay. TNA Wrestling separates itself from the competitors by delivering quality family programming that focuses on the athletic in-ring action instead of over the top, shocking antics that have become all too common in the mainstream.
"I am pleased about the entertainment value wrestling can bring to FSN," said George Greenberg, Executive Vice President of Programming and Production, FSN. "I believe 'Impact!' will bolster our Friday afternoon schedule and provide another FSN destination for young viewers."
The debut of "Impact!" marks the first time since March of 2001, when World CHampionship Wrestling's Monday Night Nitro went off the air, that a national television audience will have an option of wrestling programming.
"We are thrilled to have Total Nonstop Action Wrestling's 'Impact!' here at Universal," stated Paul Meena, Vice President and General Manager of the Universal Studios Florida Production Group. "Our 22,000 square foot Sound Stage 21 is the ideal venue for the weekly show as it allows the freedom to create the spectacular set they envision. It also affords our theme park guests the opportunity to be part of the production audience and cheer for their favorite wrestling icons from a 'front row seat'".
The alternative for the true wrestling fan, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling prides itself on delivering quality, family programming that is clean, innovative, cutting edge and with the high-risk, high-flying athleticism that TNA Wrestling is known for.
Fox Sports Net reaches more than 80 million homes through its 20 regional sports channels.
Unless I'm missing it, I don't see an answer to The Vile 1's question as to whether this new show will supplement the weekly PPVs or replace them. I also don't see any mention of how long the program will be each week. In addition, while Mr. Meena, a VP and GM at Universal, mentions that this "affords our theme park guests the opportunity to be part of the production audience", no mention is made of what the taping schedule will be (i.e., when tapings will take place, how many programs will be taped at a time, etc.) so that his "theme park guests" will be able to plan to be "part of the production audience."
To me, though, the most striking part of the announcement is TNA's description of itself: "Total Nonstop Action Wrestling prides itself on delivering quality, family programming that is clean...". Quite a difference from the way the company marketed itself when it first came into existence, playing off the TNA name (T&A) and boasting that being on PPV would free it from the censorship that is a part of being on broadcast and basic cable television. Still, the change in marketing strategy (targeting a younger demographic with a more family-oriented product) may prove to be their ticket to continued success.
Finally, my biggest concern in all this is that if TNA totally relocates from Nashville to Florida, I may lose my favorite sports-talk program, WNSR's "Inside the Pressbox" hosted by Don West. And that would not be good.
On today's show, Tenay said (IIRC) that it would be a one hour show, and said that it was "in addition" to the weekly PPVs and Xplosion.
Implying that the PPVs would continue may have just been a way to keep buyrates up 'til the new show starts, though. Or maybe they're considereing dropping the weekly PPV but don't want to announce it yet.
Using theme park guests as audience seems kind of sucky to me. It seems like you'd get a lot of people wandering in and out and not being familiar with the wrestlers (which seems like it'd be a problem for the first few shows in a new location, anyway -- people won't know what signs to bring and what to chant).

As far as anyone knows, they aren't going to drop the PPVs. This is probably because this timeslot sucks really bad and it's quite probable that no one is going to watch this show, which I'm sure they aren't completely ignorant to. I think they've just been feeling the need to have national free TV for so long that they were going to take anything, even paying to air 3pm on Fridays on Fox Sports Net.
I guess they feel as though they have to at least try, though - which is true, you can't do what they want to do (become a WWE competitor) without taking risks, but they're picking a bad time in terms of business and the deal is awful.
From PWInsider.com, which is reporting a "Between The Ropes" report with Jimmy Hart:
"The interview began with talk of the deal with Fox Sports Net and the impact it will have. Jimmy talked about the mixture of young wrestlers and established stars. Jimmy said that the weekly pay per views will continue on Wednesday nights, and then on Thursdays they will tape at Universal Studios.
Jimmy was asked about the taping of WCW at Universal Studios in the past, and the influence he had with the TNA deal. Jimmy said that Universal was very receptive to bringing back wrestling, and he felt that it was a no-brainer to bring TNA to Universal. Jimmy feels that it is necessary to have TNA sign the talent so they will not suffer the same fate as the XWF. Jimmy did thank Vince McMahon for leaving the wrestling ring from the XWF since he took about everything else."
