You know what, dare I say, reeks of awesomeness? We're only a month into 2006 and already all three of these guys have been a World Champion this year:
(edited by OlFuzzyBastard on 13.2.06 1141) "That's my problem - I'm too frank. That's why my mother shoved me down the stairs. But then she is fat."
If you throw in Rhino then all four members of Team RECK have had the title in the past year.
The results were pretty much what I expected except Jay Lethal? Wow, didn't see that one coming. Also kind of surprise Strong and Aries lost too, but I guess they are still trying to make the Naturals look strong too.
Pretty good show! Better than January's, not as good as some of the ones late last year.
Christian winning the title was great -- the Impact Zone fans rushed the ring and the ring was packed with them, hoisting Christian up on their shoulders. Really cool image.
Joe/Styles/Daniels wasn't quite as good as last years, but it was still really fun. Finish was kind of sudden.
Abyss vs. Rhyno was crazy, particularly the finish (Abyss got gored off a balcony and fell through 4 tables [2 stacked on top of 2 more]).
Opening X-Div matches were fun -- surprised by both endings. Makes sense with Lethal -- makes him an immediate player in the division without having to sacrifice someone else in a 1-on-1 match.
I didn't much like the Naturals winning, though -- I just don't like 'em as faces, I guess. They're great when they're being weaselly and throwing powder in people's faces, but they're so scrawny I have trouble buying 'em otherwise.
James Gang vs. LAX kinda sucked, as expected. Machete? Who is this guy? I was hoping for Low Ki -- long shot, I know, and he probably couldn't've made the match any better, but still.

Great move in giving Christian the title. Hopefully, they make the most of it and give him a decent-length run, and that he doesn't have to drop the belt back to Jarrett.
If Jarrett is going to feud with Sting, it's best not to involve the world title (mainly for morale and the fact that Sting doesn't want to work a full schedule). So far so good for 2006.
The main event made me sadly realize that all of the heavyweight title contenders in TNA have really crappy finishers. And Jarrett took Christian's crappy finisher in a crappy half-assed way, making it look even crappier than it usually does.
My only real concern here is the whole Earl Hebner thing, and the way the announcers were selling it as "My god! The most controversial referee ever! Remember Montreal???" It would've been fine if the match had been pretty straightforward, but it was kind of a mish-mash in the end. I mean, I guess they are trying to give Jarrett a "You screwed me, Zybszko!" reason for a rematch, but it did put a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth that this was how they did Christian's big first world title win.
