Not a great show overall, frankly.

It reeked of a washed-up loser trying to make himself look like he's still worth something in today's wrestling world. It reminded me so much of Buff Bagwell.
The rest of the show wasn't much better. Abyss should not be getting assists from Don Callis to beat DON HARRIS. Sandman coming out as Raven's partner was more of a disappointment than anything, though the Gathering's heel turn is gradually progressing, so TNA shouldn't be faulted for trying. Chad Collyer intrigues me, but he and Sonjay Dutt just didn't connect tonight, IMHO. The Gauntlet match was there, but wasn't anything special.
Highlight of the night was Daniels/Low Ki, of course.
And big props to TNA for their tribute to Mike Lockwood. Much better than the half-assed attempt from WWE.

| #4 Posted on 12.11.03 2312.57 | Instant Rating: 4.92 | Yeah ... had 2nd row seats to the show ... not very eventful ... AJ was waaaay over ... hopefully this is a one shot deal for Luger ...
Had a chance to meet and greet a few wrestlers. Chris Harris of AMW was real cool and thanked us for coming ... Heard some guy ask Low-Ki when he was going to the "big show" ... he kinda laughed and said something to the effect of "they can't handle me" (which is true) ... X came out and shook some hands, when some smark called him Pierre ... he kinda gave a half smile and tried to pretend like he didn't know what they was talking about (FYI: X is allegedly Carl "Pierre" Oulette) ...
So I am still baffled by the huge push of Abyss ... He's not too bad for a big man, but his gimmick is too early-Kane. But he is getting a match with AJ next week.

Didn't they let any signs in this week? Usually you see a bunch of them, and I was expecting to see at least one about Luger.
Did Sandman's work look as good as it came off on TV?

"I do have a degree in electrical engineering... from almost 20 years ago. Punchcard systems were just becoming obsolete, we had rotary phones in the dorms, and a modem was still a gizmo the size of a shoebox into which you squooshed the phone receiver itself. In short, we lived like animals.
The instant obsolesence is why I became a writer. The rate of punctuation in a sentence doesn't double every 18 friggin' months, and you never have some 22-year-old looming over your shoulder, shaking his head, saying "dude... you're still using adverbs...?"

Yeah ... they took quite a few signs ... I've been to a few shows, but this one is the first one that I can recall that they came out and looked at everyone's beforehand. They made it look like they were "judging" them to see which one's would get on camera, but we all know the real reason. I saw them take a a couple away during the show as well.
And I was impressed with Sandman. One of his better matches I think he's had with TNA.

Don't worry, I'm sure the rub from Luger that AJ received last night will benefit him when he's sent back to the X division. Hey, maybe he can team with Ron Killings as former heavyweight champions who have fallen from grace.
It appears that Raven is back in the title hunt for the time being, until Punk and Dinero turn on him, and we get the Raven-Punk redux. I've seen that in multiple feds already this year, I don't want to see anymore thank you. | eviljonhunt81

Their feud in Ring of Honor has been pretty good, but their confrontations in MLW weren't as good, of what I've seen. The problem is, ROH now seem to be milking it for everything it's worth, and the feud has lost much of the lustre it once had.

Forget the Luger return. THE KISS DEMON IS BACK!!

Lex demonstrates the form of CPR he used on May 1, 2003. Health officials warn this controversial method is rarely recommended, as it can leave the victim with broken bones, internal injuries, and in cases where the heart has stopped usually only results in "making them a whole lot more dead".

None of which I've seen, so I have no problem with that.
I do have a problem with the Styles / Luger stuff, though. I think that if Styles had used his quickness and wiles to kick Luger's ass -- okay, not to kick his ass, but to cleverly beat him -- I think the crowd would have gone nuts. I, at least, would have enjoyed it.
I also hate this X guy. I hate it when they make it look like the X guys are just rag dolls for the big guys to do whatever they want with. One of my least favorite things in WCW was the "tryout" match with Christopher Daniels and Michael Modest where Steiner came out and broke their legs because, well, he felt like it and could without even trying and who cares, they're only cruiserweights. So, yeah, X's finisher is SUPER AWESOME, I'll give him that. Still, the mystery tubby man squashing the entire X division singlehandedly is a really shitty angle. I'm pretty sure that he's going to squash Dutt and Daniels next week, and then I'm HOPING that Shane will beat him through superior X-type skills, because X with the X belt is something that will make my head explode.

It seems like they are going the route of the WWE already (put over the Hoss in lieu of the guy with talent). I still will never understand the whole big guy will kill little guy every time.
I would believe a guy like Low-Ki mopping the floor with Luger. My brother and I saw him the first time on WWA and my brother turned to me and said "Shit, now there is a guy I wouldnt wanna meet pissed", he has a special presence about him. I watched UFC when Hoyce Gracie would kick the shit out of guys double his size. My hope is that if X interferes with the Ki match that Ki goes apeshit and beats his fat ass.
I will leave you with this quote, in the words of Hal from "Malcolm in the Middle" after the kids saw a little guy beat up a big kid..."See kids, I told you, crazy beats big every time". | Mayhem

X didn't look all that fat in person ... he just comes across as being bigger on TV ... but I do agree that he should not be fighting in the X division ... and couldn't they have come up with a more original masked man name?

I wouldn't, considering his heart'll probably explode in a coupla years. A guy who gets himself that pumped-up through less-than-legal means is an accident waiting to happen.
