I think it is absolute BULLSHIT that a title match can end in a DQ when the champion or one of his/her allies interferes right at the end.
They need to get round to changing the rules so as if the defending champion intentionally gets thenselves DQ'd, it should result in the title changing hands.
I'm sick of watching RAW week after week and watchin HHH bullshit his way out of having to lose his title. Christian too.
all this shows is that they are too crap at their job to properly defend their belts like the "champions" they're meant to be.
I know it's staged this way to get a bit of build up between rivals, but it REALLY gets on my nerves.
surely i'm not the only person here who thinks this? anyone agree at all?!
Twist of Fate to Swanton Bomb. never to be seen again with the departure of Jeff Hardy. :(
I think the rules are good the way they are right now. The champion should have a little bit more of an advantage than the challenger. Sure the DQ ending is might be occuring a little too much right now but otherwise I always like how the challenger HAS to beat the champion, not other way around.
Huh? Did I miss something? HHH's match DIDN'T end in a DQ. It was about to, but Eric Bischoff restarted the match and Triple H pinned RVD. And last week he pinned Kane. Now if what you meant is that you're tired of people winning because of interference then I could understand.
I can't really complain about the title match myself though. Sure Triple H held on to the title again but if you think that Triple H "buried" or "held down" RVD then you're crazy. It took the World Champion, the best wrestler ever and Randy Orton to beat him. They made Rob look like a god tonight.
There's no problem with the rules of wrestling, it's how the matches are written.
In fact, I would have rather had last night's match end in a DQ instead of RVD's heat being eroded any further by another loss to HHH. HHH already beat RVD and Kane last year. Do we really need to be subjected it it again? We get the point.
HHH has run out of opponents to destroy, so they're cycling through the same opponents again. No one is getting any stronger.

Yeah, it's lame when it is overused, and it has been overused waaaaay too much in recent years.
But it's a good excuse to have around to stretch out a feud, and it makes the face victory all that meaningful when they finally overcome the heel's cheatin' ways.

Except the faces never get the victory (over Trips). Every champion on Raw is a heel. Every champion on Smackdown is a face. Is that weird to anyone else?
FWIW the folks at NWA:TNA must agree with you, as they have mentioned on a couple of occasions that the DQ rule is a sham and they refused to use it in their storylines, instead going with the "champion can lose their title through DQ or CO" stip according to Tenay.
I think they should drop the DQ and countout finish completely. The way they do it now is too inconsistent. One match the ref will count both guys out of the ring; in another match he does nothing when they leave the ring.
In that case they use the "the ref is giving them some leeway in such an important match" excuse, which came up almost every time during one of those Austin/Undertaker bouts in 1998 where they spent five minutes fighting around the ring and into the crowd.

Oliva: You are the weakest link! Goodbye!
Stewie: Ahahaha. Oh God, that's funny. That's really funny. You write your own material? Do you? Because that is so fresh. 'You are the weakest link. Goodbye!' You know I've never heard anyone make that joke before. You're the first. I've never heard anyone reference that outside program before. Because that's what she says on the show, right? Hmmm? 'You are the weakest link. Goodbye!' And ye...ye..yet you've taken it and....and used it out of context to insult me in this everyday situation. What a clever, smart girl you must be. To come up with a joke like that all by yourself. Mmmmm...that's so fresh too. Any Titanic jokes you want to throw at me as long as we're hitting these phenomena at the height of their popularity. Mmmm? Cuz i'm here God you're so funny!
I always liked how if the ref saw someone do a move outside the ring, he'd have to go out to say "hey guys, get back in the ring" and then lose his count and have to start over again. It gets funny sometimes watching the refs try to find reasons to stop counting (and I'm glad they do, since I hate matches that end in a countout of any kind).
I agree with the original idea though, which is that the heel's buddies interfering has become a crutch lately.
