First, this doesn't involve the usual suspect. Second, I'd like to state up front that I have been a fan of Jim Cornette since the mid 80's, so this might bias my opinion on this other person. While everyone has been blaming the RVD not getting a World Title conspiracy on Trip, perhaps this time another person is behind the conspiracy. That's right, everyone's good friend, Mr. Paul Heyman. Examples of why this is possible: As always, Paul Heyman has always shown that he is vindictive. 1) Raven: Left ECW in June '97 to jump to WCW, depriving Paul of the Raven/Dreamer blow-off on PPV, but instead on an ECW Arena show. When Raven returned in '99-'00, it was widely reported that the two did not get along well. In the WWF/E, where Paul is a writer, Raven has been subjugated to the Heat Siberian Gulag for 6 months. 2) Perry Saturn: Left ECW at the same time as Raven to jump to WCW, after Heyman had given Saturn the blowjob tag team push by billing the Eliminators as the greatest tag team in the world. Jumped to the WWF/E as part of Radicals in 2000. When Heyman arrived, Saturn was in a mid-card tag team with Dean Malenko. Within a few months, Saturn was in a storyline where he was romantically involved with a mop. Saturn is no longer employed by the WWF/E. 3) Mike Awesome: Bailed out on Heyman when he was ECW Champ in spring 2000, after having highly rated and highly acclaimed world title matches in the winter of '99-'00. Was buried in the WWF/E, where Heyman was a writer. No longer employed by the WWF/E. 4) Rob Van Dam: Believed to be Paul E's 'boy' because of his long TV title reign. Forgotten by many was his falling out over contractual issues with ECW in the fall of '00, leading to RVD scheduling himself out of the country when ECW did a PPV in his home area. Could it be that Paul Heyman, who does have the ear of Vince McMahon to some extent (ex. Dangerous Alliance in WCW never had possession of World Title, Heyman has represented 3 straight WWE Champs in WWF/e), could have convinced Vince that RVD is not a reliable/stable enough person to hold the World Title? Remember, Alpo had a long reign in ECW, RVD never had one.
Perhaps this conspiracy theory is incorrect, but it does provide a different reason for a possible anti-RVD conspiracy.
I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.
On Off The Record, Heyman stated that he's a huge supporter of Rob Van Dam but he has no control over what they do with him on RAW. He went on to say that if he was booking RVD, he'd focus more on his matches and toughness. It wasn't the type of insincere compliment that you often hear in wrestling either.
Heyman had his reasons for not giving RVD the World Title. He thought the RVD win was something special and should be saved until ECW got more exposure. Sadly, the company totally fell apart and couldn't even pay RVD and by the time Alpo got the title, it was like Heyman was just trying to put it on a guy who wouldn't leave.
While Heyman is vindictive, Saturn and Awesome dug their own graves in WWE and Raven's relationship with Vince goes back further then Heyman.
I thought the reason/people behind the anti-RVD movement were clear when his real flaws were exposed by his opponent on live TV.
