OK. Rock's coming back soon as he (at the moment) has been a face longer than everyone else in the Fed. And judging by Wrestlemania, Summerslam and some other matches - the casual fans seem to not like the fact Dwayne pops in and out everytime to make a movie.

Rock was booed at WM18 against Hogan. Rock got the most heel heat at Summerslam and Brock ended up getting a monster face pop just b/c the crowd despised Rock.

So after being a face for nearly 4 years - I'm thinking it's time to jump to the other side of the fence and go heel.

And you know why this heel turn would work? Much like Bret Hart - he has a legit reason to turn against the fans: they turned on him first.

Thoughts?

Why would 'The Rock' Don Muraco need to turn heel when he returns? Oh, your talking about Flex. Hell, in my mind he's already a heel.

Here's an idea: Program him against a tweener, and let the fans decide. Remember that this was a NY crowd that booed him, which almost never goes with the grain.

I don't know about that. The South Florida crowd at Armageddon sure didn't like him. They replayed the Confidential piece about his newest movie on the trons, and when he appeared, there was a chorus of "SELLOUT!" and "ROCKY SUCKS!" People were heckling a *pre-recorded segment*. I think he could be a most excellent monster heel.

Now, whether he'll want to be is a different story. If the fans hate him, they probably won't go see his movie, and that's probably the last thing he wants.

Think Happy Kurt Angle Thoughts.

Rock is gonna make a killer heel when he comes back. His whole heel gimmick was being better looking, richer, more talented, etc then everyone else. Now he actually has the multi-million dollar movie star life to back that up.

I'm eagerly awaiting a heel Rock run when he comes back because as good as a face Rock helped get over Brock. A heel Rock could create some new main event faces, which are hard to come by.

It's time to turn Rock heel again... The simplist way to turn him is for him to come back all 'movie starred' up, just like fuelinjected said, and acting as though wrestling is now a bother to him. He can go to the attitude of "I'm so good, I don't have to be here, but since I'm not on a movie set and you guys missed me so much, I'm here."

That would surely piss a lot of fans off and lead them to booing him. Hell, I'd go to a show and boo his ass for that.

The time does seem right for Rock to turn. But my fear is that he will be too good as a heel, and that too many fans will be quickly drawn back to him. It's sort of a tough spot -- if he continues to act like a face, he might get more jeers. But if he turns heel, he's still going to want to be entertaining, and the best way he knows to do that (and he does it damn well) is to cut funny promos that make his opponent look like an ass. His best hope for getting over as a heel is to only work with someone who is completely over as a face -- perhaps Lesnar.

The heel thing would be a real test of how much they trust the fans to draw the line between WWE storylines and what they decide to do at the movie box office.

I think the Rock is the most entertaining person in the business (OK, sort of in the business), so it kills me to say this, but my guess is he gets through Mania 19 and then isn't back in the WWE for at least two years.

This was entirely Paul Heyman's point on TSN's "Off The Record," and I agree with it 100%.

Thats a good point. Kinda like Stone Cold in 2001. No matter how hard SCSA tried (and he immersed himself in heel mode) they wouldnt stop cheering him. But also the fans were caught so blind-sided by Stone Colds turn that they didnt want to accept, no matter what kind of cowardly heel clinic Steve was putting on. But since the fans already want a reason to boo Rock then I think it could work. Plus you know that Rock would dive into heeldom with a vengeance. Hell, Im as big a Rock mark as they come and Id love to boo him. But he needs a hugely over Face as a foil or its not gonna work either. Id love to see him against Booker. I dont think Lesnar has quite enough face heat to stand up against Rock. Maybe Angle could but he has yet to really nail a face turn. I know hes got it in him, and maybe the Rock could pull it out if him.

As far as the movies go, i dont think it would be a big deal. Hes already got a succesful film under his belt. To make any movie he does a success 90% of the box office business would probably come from non wrestling fans anyway. SO him being a heel or face wouldnt be that big a deal. Plus he wouldnt get "X-Pac" heel heat I dont think.

And hey Redsox, Only Eric S can use Flex, plus if hes already a heel to you, then you cant call him Flex anyway.

In the new WWE Magazine with Big Poppa Pump on the cover, they hinted at Rock turning in their 2003 predictions.

I would like to see Heel Rock. Some feuds that I would like to see are Rock-Booker, and Rock-Steiner.

These thoughts have been going through my head for the last 4 months. The man HAS to play into the booing.
If WWE/movie companies are afraid they might loose money if he is a heel at the box office they could try to have him be a face as usual when he walks in.

You know there will be a pop at first. they should book this very carefully.

Have him reappear in cities where he should get a face pop (hometown?) and then in the weeks after, once the movie is out and the big bucks are flowing in already..make him more of a heel.

And he should learn NOT to be a smartass, but just an ass.
Not too many 'sing along' catchphrases, just insulting people and playing on the 'I am better' motive.

Then this could work..I love it..for all I care they can even have Hogan vs Rock part 2 with Hogan being the face who cannot believe ROck let it go to his head like this ;)

I only call him Flex because some people construe my original name of him Kavanaboy as having racist overtones, so, since Flexy Lexy Luger isn't around, I use Flex.

I just hope that if he comes back and feuds with Booker, it will be more even and less one-sided than their previous feud during invasion. Also, I've had quite enough of the things getting shoved up people's candy asses and the shakey legs. But besides that, he will hopefully be cool.. well, as long as he's big and not all skinny like

yeah

Another excellent plus to a Rocky heel turn: the man is a MACHINE when putting guys over. You feud him with Booker T, and BAM! Instant credibility after a couple of clean wins-which Rock is always willing to hand out.

Side note: I really cannot understand so many smart fans' hatred of The Rock. The man literally has the whole package: off-the-charts charisma as both heel and face; the superstar look; excellent in-ring skills and psychology; and a killer finishing move (the Rock Bottom, not the People's Elbow). What more do you want? Seriously, explain it to me.

Its because he is the complete package. I have come to a very real conclusion, people don't like winners. They like rooting for the underdog and even then, its only becuase they hate winners. People hate winners, because they will never be winners. People hate Rock, because he has it and they don't. Rock is the man and they are not. I like Benoit, Angel and to extent Lesnar, but they are not Rock. Rock has the ability to cut cool promos, have a ***match without really trying, he has the most ability of all, getting the fans into a match. The fans feel every punch, kick, chop. DDT and Rock Bottom. Those three don't. Angel is close to it, but I have seen Angel matches just die on the mat including those with Benoit.

Heel Rock would be ok, but he will eventually win the fans back in a month. He like Austin is better at being the face instead of the heel. Their heel efforts have been great, but they are much more entertaining has faces.

A Fan- Merry Christmas

Throw in also that the Rock has more respect for the business than anybody. He will put over anybody. Since 2000 The Rock was the guy to put the belt on the three new champions (Jericho, Lesnar, and Angle) And I believe when its time for Booker T to win a title itll be the rock that does it....

I'm trying to figure out where this Flex will put over Booker sentiment comes from. Didn't he continually go over Booker in the Invasion in 2001? And of course, who can forget the midget elbow that turned Lance Storm from a serious challenger to a joke. And, in those non-title matches when Flex returned this summer, he did a great job putting guys over. Oh wait, he never jobbed a non-title match.

With his last run, his promos were just terribly unfunny, and he relied way too heavily on his catchphrases and making fun of Coach. Plus, I can't stand his use of the kip-up. He just killed the whole match w/ Eddy, plus the match w/ Flair, by throwing it in at the end. His whole character, on the whole, was just extremely stale to me.

And I wouldn't say his in-ring skills are "excellent". Pretty good, but he needs to slow down a bit. He sped up his moves to look more exciting, but his Samoan Drop and Overhead Belly-to-Belly have become very loose/sloppy looking, and that's on top of his crappy Sharpshooter.

That being said, I could definitely get into a heel Rock. It could really freshen up his character. Cut down on the catchphrases, slow down his pacing, and he could get back in my good graces.
