All-Star forward Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves, who earlier this year had the first 30-point, 30-rebound game since Moses Malone in 1982, just broke one of Malone's records.

With his 52nd consecutive double-double, Love now holds the record for the most consecutive double-doubles since the NBA/ABA merger in 1976.

This has been a breakout third season for Love, who went from last year's (still very impressive) totals of 14 PPG and 11 RPG a game while only starting 22 of the 60 games he played, to 20.9 PPG/15.8, and the other accomplishments I've already mentioned.

He's certainly a bright spot for the Timberwolves as they attempt to rebuild in the post-Kevin Garnett era of the franchise.

He's the reason I've actually been watching the TWolves the past couple of weeks. (That, and the fun of watching them collapse in the final three minutes.) Saw this last night and it was cool to hear the standing ovation. Also, about three minutes after he broke Malone's record, he broke the TWolves franchise record for rebounds in a single season. He had 309, and that was before the half. Now, I just hope his knee gets better.

Congrats, Mr. Love!

Kevin Love definitely is the nucleus to build the T-Wolves around and in my opinion, should win Most Improved Player of the Year.

And after continuing the streak on Friday in a thumping of the Jazz, 53 will be the record for now. Tonight in Oakland, the Warriors held Love to 6 points, 12 boards and 5 assists. I expect Love might get a lot of rest this week while they're on the road.

Anyone have any idea why Love sat out most of the fourth quarter? I realize they were getting blown out, but it's not like Minny had to sit their starters to rest up for that big playoff push or anything. When Love's really the only attraction the T-Wolves have, why sit him out at all, unless he's hurt?

Why give him the chance to get hurt in a blowout road game? His knee has been banged up for a week (and probably longer) - let him have some recovery time.
