A quick list of food I ate at the State Fair last night, in roughly chronological order:
Cheese curds Porkchop on a stick Coke Dr Pepper Cream puff Corn on the cob Spaghetti in meatball on a stick Walleye on a stick Coke More cheese curds
I was too late to get the "cheeseburger wonton" unfortunately, next time for sure
I skipped out on the deep fried pickle, maybe next time
I wasn't near the Scotch egg, definitely next time
Anything else? Oh I guess I wanted to try the Puff Daddy...I didn't even SEE that one, but I must have walked by it a few times as I was in the right building
For about ten seconds, I was on the late news when a crane camera did a crowd sweep. (You can tell it's me because I'm the only guy in a yellow Hawaiian shirt.)
And of course the fireworks were more awesome than hearing 3 Doors Down echoing out of the grandstand. (Did they even DO "Kryptonite" this year? Who knows, all those songs sound the same!!)
Dunno when I'm headed back to the fair for sure - there's a big barbecue tomorrow, so not then. Sunday? Maybe? We'll see how much I feel like sleeping in. Actually, I feel like sleeping in RIGHT NOW, but that won't work for a few hours.
I'm planning on taking corn to the barbecue because (1) I'm cheap and (2) it's so easy to barbecue. DO IT MARTHA STEWART'S WAY:
1. Fresh local corn - shuck it, duck - go bi-colour because you're bi-curious 2. Brush with olive oil 3. Salt! 4. Place on grill for 15 minutes, turn'n' every so often 5. Marvel at how damn delicious it is

We go to the big old Union Fair tomorrow. JayJayDean will be the only person on the board who has ever heard of this fair in beautiful downtown Union, Maine.

Not true! I never made it up there, as my father preferred Fryeburg, but I have definitely heard of it. So have a Moxie for me.
