I had loads of fun this past weekend - Jane (ddywnyc.com) and Dollie flew in from NYC for the Sloan show (as well as to see us!) - I've shaken hands with...I will say "most" of Sloan, because to be honest, I can't say as I remember how many of them I met personally. They all seemed cool. My job REALLY was to hang back and let the girls be girls around the huge rock stars they personally know. Still, hopefully I interacted enough to make Feely really jealous. I *did* forget to thank Jay for the note congratulating me for marrying Kim, but he'll probably forgive me and/or not remember anyway, right? Right.
Of course, the REALLY swank part was crashing the IAMCP (iamcp.ca) party - this weekend Minneapolis hosted the "Microsoft Velocity 2005" conference and the Canadian delegation forked over a Brinks truck full of money to hire Sloan for a *PRIVATE PARTY* and somehow WE were let in as "friends of the band" or "with the band" or something equally impressive. Sloan did two sets, but the late flight to pick up the girls meant we only saw the second one (and apparently missed the CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN - geez these software developers must have money to burn or something - maybe I'm working in the wrong country) but I was told that the first set was pretty reserved as the Canadians really hadn't had time to take advantage of the open bar. Did I say "open bar?" Hell yeah I did. Waitresses kept walking by with gross shots. Also, all Canadian software developers have short hair and long pants....thus making it obvious that I was not One of Them. (Also, the "stars & stripes" wristband probably also eliminated any doubt)
So that was most of my weekend. SLOOOOOOOO-OOOAN
