Relive the past glory of this tie: TIE OF THE DAY: 040303 (The W)

I had nothing to say about it then...I got not much to say about it now.

Today is my first official day as a { Sorry, you must be logged in to see this text! } employee and boy oh boy, is the morale ever high around HERE. At least the stock's up 3% - here we go again!!

I probably should have worn my Homer Simpson tie, but then again, I probably should have worn my black shirt. In retrospect, what I got on NOW seems just fine. I just wish I'd tried a little harder to wash the LAKE WATER out of my hair, but NOOOOOOO I HAD to shave instead.

My bug bites itch like crazy. It actually looks like I have chicken pox on my hands (and ONE on my palm which OOOOOOWCH)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BROTHER-IN-LAW JOEL (stitzel.com) - because nothing says "Happy Birthday" like directing people to a webpage that appears to have not been updated in about eight years

Not only is the SACD-Hybrid version of Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds (The W) out today, but ALSO out is the obscenely expensive limited edition 7 disc box set (sonymusicstore.com) from Legacy Recordings. If you like REALLY noisy pages, check out http://legacyrecordings.com/waroftheworlds/ for more about how it's 1978 again

LATER: WHAT I GOT FOR MY BIRTHDAY

BYE

Is this a new job, or are you officially off probation today?

One of my friends is a big-wig at { Sorry, you must be logged in to see this text! } , I think their office is in { Sorry, you must be logged in to see this text! } . She's was with a smaller company a long time ago until these guys bought them. I think she's been there for like 15 years all together.

And what a coincidence, I downloaded AntiVirus 2005 today too. It only took three hours on my super fast dial-up connection here in Outer Mongolia.

Uh, what? The merger with VERITAS finally completed...Saturday, I think. Some time over the holiday weekend, I dunno. Anyway, the merger was announced about two weeks before my first interview so it's not exactly new news. But everybody got new employee ID numbers, stickers for "upgrading" their badges and what not.

Happy First Day/New Name/Same Place! (?)

But on to the big stuff...OH.MY.GOD.I MUST have the War of the Worlds CD...

When I as about 12 a friend of my Mom's brought me 4 or 5 cassettes with this on it. All it said was "War of the Worlds-The Musical" on it (they were tapes of tapes...)

She knew I was into music in general, and loved to read sci-fi. I spent three days in my room listening to this, and revisited it several times in the weeks to follow. None of my friends appreciated it much, but I thought it was awesome.

I hadn't thought about that in over 20 years until you posted that link. I didn't think it was possible that it was what was on my crappy cassettes...but there it was "The chances of anything coming from Mars, were a million to one they said..."

I will be wasting money sometime soon, and happily using The W "spend" link.

I get to see The Time with Digital Underground Saturday night. Good to know they can still bring it...as if there was any question. Thanks.
