|  #1 Posted on 17.2.02 1739.19 | Ok, so I started a different thread about the worst WWF champs ever. Now if you reverse it, who would be your All-Star list of best WWF champs for each title? This can be based on who you think added the most prestige to the belt, had a good run with it, was the best in the ring or was just the most over. Whatever it takes to be considered *your* favorite champion.
WWF Champ- Steve Austin
I would have gone with Bret, but his reigns seemed a little under whelming, and I think he was a much better IC champ (see below). Austin really helped bring the WWF back to the mainstream while not being as redundant as Hogan in the 80s (not to mention he is light years better in the ring). His '98 reign didn't set the wrestling world on fire, but I think he was still too hampered by injuries and lack of opponents then. He's good on the mic, can adust to multiple styles depending on opponent, and always gets the crowd into it wether face or heel.
IC- Bret Hart
Tough choice between Michaels and Hart. I went with Hart since he gave me two of my favorite PPV IC title matches: vs. Perfect and vs. Piper.
Tag Team- Demolition
Yeah, not really skilled workers, but man did I love these guys when I was a kid. They gave me some of my fondest memories of late 80s/early 90s WWF. Unfortunatley, I wasn't a fan during the Bulldogs heyday, so I can't say much about their reign.
Euro- D' Lo
Not much to say here, other than D' Lo was a good worker who made the Euro title seem really important. Moreso than any other champ.
Light Heavywight- Taka
Not may good ones to choose from here, and I can't recall many Taka title matches, but I'll give it to him by default.
Women's- Alundra Blayze
Same story as above.
Hardcore- RVD
It was either him or Blackman, and RVD was way more over, so I went with him.

I don't really think, other than maybe Hogan, that anybody made the title mean more in the modern WWF. Austin is the better worker of the two.
IC: Shawn Michaels
One of the best workers I've ever seen, I gave him the edge over Bret because Shawn had a bit more charisma as champ.
Tag Team: The Hart Foundation
Besides, I was going to give Bret the nod here. Some really good matches, and some excellent feuds.
European: HHH
Not alot of really good ones. Hunter is probably one of the better wrestlers of the bunch, and he had that great feud with Owen over it.
Hardcore: Mick Foley
That belt meant Sooo much to his character. It was pretty neat.
Light Heavyweight: Christian
Why not. Christian was as good a champ as anyone else who held the title.
Women's Title: Ivory
Good wrestler. Good looking. Fine with me.

WWF Champ - Steve Austin. Bret was a great champion at a time when the WWF was in a downswing, and Hogan's lack of matches and no-jobbing when he did towards the last couple of title reigns leaves him out of the running. Austin (and his feud with McMahon) was the spark that brought the WWF back into prominence, and he also made it cool to wear wrestling t-shirts.
IC - Shawn Michaels. Bret Hart runs a very close second here with his classic battles against Piper and Mr. Perfect, but Michaels' ass-busting performances in the ladder matches vs. Razor Ramon and having the edge on charisma broke the tie from where I sit. But Bret fans, fear not, as I consider him the best in being one-half of...
Tag Team - The Hart Foundation. If you made a blueprint of what a great tag team should be, this would be it. Anvil was the powerhouse of the team, while Bret was the technician, and together they meshed very well in the ring. They were also blessed to be around at a time when there were many great tag-teams out there.
Euro - D'Lo Brown. Great worker who did a great gag of hailing from several European locations and actually treated the Euro title as something prestigious. It wasn't easy passing up guys like HHH, HBK, and Owen Hart, but D'Lo showed the most pride in the title.
LW - Dean Malenko. Here's a guy that added credibility to the title, and is a great wrestler to kick off a LW division if you were really serious about it. Taka was also a great champion, but didn't have much to work with. It's a shame the WWF still won't get this division rolling.
Women's - Sensational Sherri. I had to reach way back on this one. The recent crop of women's champions don't really cut it in my view. I wasn't around for most of The Fabulous Moolah's 30+ year title reign, so I can't accurately judge that the best. Sherri was a solid worker by division standards, and the psycho bitch persona made her a really good heel.
Hardcore - RVD. The man was tailor-made for the division, and set the standard for his opponents to hold up in his matches. Steve Blackman performed well, but he didn't capture the imagination as much as R...V...D.

IC Title: Jeff Jarrett, was really the last person to give the belt a credible run. He really should have made the move to mainevent tweener during this reign.
Tag Team: Edge and Christian, really helped bring the tagteam belts to another level.
Euro: Mideon...why not he's a crappy champion for a crappy belt.
LightHeavy: Dean Malenko, his match with Scotty Too Hotty was probably the best LH match in the WWF.
Woman: Wendy Richter, because she's oldschool.
Hardcore: Road Dogg, he had some very entertaining garbage matches.

| #5 Posted on 17.2.02 1855.38 | WWF Title - Bret Hart. Austin can be effective without the belt. Bret had a tough time. His whole character was "The best there is...etc." How is that going to get over if he isn't the champ? On the other hand, when he did have the belt he was great.
IC - The Rock. Hands down. He was magic with this belt. The "People's Champ, People's Choice, and best damn Intercontinental Champion...there ever was." He was great for the belt, and the belt was great for him. They elevated each other.
Tag Team - British Bulldogs. My favorite tag-team was always the "same, but different" one, where the two guys would have the same gimmick and dress the same, but one would be the power guy and the other the technician/high flyer. The Bulldogs really pioneered this, and were great at it. The Hart Foundation and Power & Glory are other good examples of this tag-team.
Euro - D'Lo! See above.
Hardcore - Mankind. See above.
Women's - Ivory. See above.
L.H./Cruiserweight. Tajiri. Only because he's the "Cruiserweight champ," which is an infinitely better name than the "Light-Heavyweight" champ. Plus i like Tajiri.
