Come on -- The WWE had what -- three, four hours, tops to do a tribute to Hennig?
RAW did suck the big wazoo, but don't hit them for a Photoshop special in the time frame. I would expect at least something on Confidential, for sure, but I think you were a little harsh on them for that. Hell, that was the least of my worries for the show.
I mean, "The Show Must Go On" according to Vince was in full effect last night -- HLA, VKM's ass... yeesh.
"We had four couples, eight questions, a refrigerator and that's it." --Chuck Barris, talking about The Newlywed Game on LIVE! With Regis and Kelly
Im with Keith on this one. It wouldnt have taken them any time for them to announce on the show his death and give him the salute. at least have JR or the king mention it. But maybe they did something at the live show that didnt make it on the air.... was anybody there?
I'm with Bullit on this one. There was no point in them revamping the show to include a rushed together, over the top tribute when they could wait and put something worthy of the man together during the week.
A poorly done tribute would have attracted a hell of a lot more flak from all quarters, particularly if it was aired on the night of his death.
"You dont appreciate a lot of stuff in school until you get older. Little things like being spanked every day by a middle aged woman: stuff you'd pay good money for these days."
I don't think a 10-bell salute or someone during the course of the show mentioning "Hey, that Hennig guy is dead, he was super cool, yo." is asking too much of the promotion. I'm looking for something with actual FEELING behind it, rather than the usual antiseptic "Throw up a cheap graphic and the Show Must Go On" nonsense we always get from them.

if he was a current active performer, like owen was, i would expect something more, not a whole show, but something more.
he was not on the active roster, so i expected at the LEAST an opening graphic about it.
You die...--More-- You made the Top Ten List! No Points 1 43372 Kaka-Bar-Orc-Mal-Cha died in The Dungeons of Doom on level 7 [Max 13], Killed by a troll, while helpless.
I expected a still-image/slo-mo footage montage of Hennig smiling with the Vince voice-over talking about his life, family, wrestling accomplishments, etc. But I cant hate on the pre-show PhotoShop either. I'm sure we'll see a tribute on Confidential soon. The guy has been in and out of the WWF/E since like 1982 for crying out loud.
I'm sure WWE will do something on an upcoming show, but Hennig is all over their website. The photo gallery when you go to WWE.com is a real nice touch. Like Scotsman said, Hennig had a great cock. Despite his reasons for leaving the company, I don't think he really burned any bridges during his career.
I'm a Hennig fan and I'm more then okay with what they did on Raw. I mean this came totally out of left field and adding that they are on the left coast and all, they really didn't have time to do much more.
I do think the full 10 bell salute and the full roster showing their respects should be left for someone passing away while in the current roster. And lets pray to God, we don't have to see that again.
I'm sure they are going to do a tribute on Confidential like they did with Davey Boy.
I got to get this off my chest. Curt Hennig just died does it really matter how many times Jim Ross or somebody drops his name during a broadcast. Or if it's a still picture or a slow-mo footage at the opening, get your priorities straight. None of that stuff is all that important, one of my favorite wrestlers died and I'm saddened, they brought it to our attention and that's all they needed to do. Seeing people nit pick over stuff like that reminds me going to the funeral and noticing and caring on who brought the best flowers.

Sometimes, you couldn't miss it!
I'm with rikidozan - he wasn't a member of the active roster so that's really all you should expect from the WWE. I would speculate that MAYBE by next weekend's "Confidential" something could be put together and aired, but we won't be seeing Hennig on TV on SmackDown!, that's for sure. (Of course, I could check the spoilers before I make such a grandiose statement of potential jackassery but naaaaaah)
You guys do know that they went on with the show at the State Fair in Brandon on the day Hennig died, right? To a crowd of around 300 people no less. If that show can go on then I wouldn't expect Vince to make any changes to his either. In fact I don't expect any kind of video tribute for Hennig on Raw or Smackdown. Like many of you said, they will probably devote a Confidential show to him.
The start of this was "Scott was wrong to bash WWE for not having a tribute video on Raw because it was short notice, they'll definitely have something on Smackdown". They didn't have anything on Smackdown. I hadn't said anything about it, though I constantly wonder why people expect better out of a company that has shown no reason to provoke those expectations.
I did hear they'll have a tribute segment on Confidential or something.

They've given pretty nice tributes in the past, pretty recently actually. Now I know they obviously havent done anything like that for Hennig yet, but I'm not sure I see why it was wrong for people to expect them to.
Expectations for WWE in general are rather inflated, given their recent history. Of course, when you've got a huge roster of some of the best talent in the world, I suppose it's only RIGHT to expect a blowaway show each time out, but they seem unable to produce that.
I agree with Boffo. The thread I think he's referring to is actually called "O'Haire has Arrived (Spoiler!)", and that, I think, is a bit much. It really leaves no doubt, and debuts like that are definitely something I want to be surprised by....
