The number to request that your name be removed from unsolicited credit card applications is 1-888-5-OPT-OUT. This is the number mentioned on the air by WTOP's Call for Action Director Shirley Rooker.
The information only goes to the three major credit bureaus and the information you provide is used to stop your credit history from being sold to companies that want to screen you for a credit card. The number was established by the credit bureaus to provide a quick and easy way for consumers to get their names of the pre approved credit card lists. You will not receive any written acknowledgement but you should find that these offers stop arriving in your mail box.
Your analogy is similar to:
"They already have cars that you can drive, why not blenders?" "I can already write with my hands, why not my pancreas?" "They already have beef that I can eat, why not granite?"
of course it's from the greatest news station in the nation, and where is it?
Silver Spring, represent!
they do those calls for action everyweek, so check out wtopnews.com every so often and there's always something useful like the opt out info...

And I will lay the smack down upon thee with great vengeance and furious roid rage those who attempt to outwrestle and expose my brothers. And you will know my name as the Bookerman, when I lay my catchphrase upon thee!"
I'll start with mini-crabcakes with a cilantro cream sauce or fried alligator with a key lime mustard dipping sauce - then either a small bowl of butternut squash soup or a small bowl of my southwestern turkey soup - for the entree it would be either Chic...
