Right now (I'm in Phoenix -- 8:00pm Mon) on Discovery Channel is a show "Inside Wrestling Shcool" -- practically the first guy we see, just showing up at the school on his first day, is John Cena!
Pretty sure this has been on before, but ... before Cena was somebody notable. :-) (Hey, maybe these wrestling schools do work!) They're talking about the "WWF, the WCW & the ECW...", so its certainly that old. Pritchard brothers coming out to look at guys at the school.
Nice edit!!! "For every young hopeful that falls by the wayside, there's another waiting to take his place." Zoom in on Cena.
Come to think of it, wasn't Cena on that MTV special "True Life: I'm a Pro Wrestler" a few years back? If I'm right, his old gimmick was the Prototype and I somewhat remember a wrestler by that name on the show, possibly in UPW. Anyone know if I'm right?
Not sure about the MTV show. This definitely covers the "first day at school" through UPW, & into the WWF, including the "Prototype" character. (DSC's editors definitely thought Cena had "it".
Looks like this might be an old UPW page about the show we're watching.
(Leech -- I think maybe this *is* the show you're thinking of. I believe (IIRC) that the MTV one had HHH & other stuff.)

Cena was defintely The Prototype here in OVW, so that much is true anyway.

Wow. He has changed. What happened?
As I recall, there were two other wrestlers (Ron H2Oman? I can't recall.) who were ALSO doing the, 'You'd mistake me for Scott Steiner if you weren't so familiar with Scott Steiner' look at the time, so he may have tried to stand out via subtraction.
Or he read the annual 'Dead Pool' article in Testosterone (TM) magazine and decided he'd rather live.
M. Cole: Oh no, what's Angle going to do with that chair. Tazz: Well, I think he wants to, you know, HIT HIM with it.

He actually looks like the Blade Runners circa 1986. Hopefully he doesn't lose his desire for the business by finding God, or worse, lose his mind and think that he is a deity, as what happened to the members of the Blade Runners.
I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.
As always, SoxNation, you supplied the missing portion of my gray matter. It IS an early 'Sting' look, more than anything.
And I've looked at those pictures again, and I just don't see that kind of shredding on Cena since he hit WWE TV. But then, who's going to supplement my failing eyesight? :)
