Maybe it's just me, but doesn't it seem as if Bischoff is trying to create his own big unstoppable killer in Batista? That he saw how well Brock is doing on Smackdown and got jealous? It's possible that it's a concidence that two (formerly)unknown huge guys are getting pushes at the same time. Somehow it smacks of Austin/Goldberg to me. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I just get this vibe. All Batista needs is someone to talk for him, since he hasn't cut a promo yet.

Well, judging from Raw last night, I think Flair would be a good mouthpiece for Batista.

I think it's pretty obvious they're trying to make him the new Goldberg. They both have a normal shortened first name and an ethnic last name, they both squash jobbers every week, they're just about the same size, and neither of them say very much. The realization hit me like a ton of bricks when I heard Jim Ross mention something about a winning streak.

I don't get the Goldberg vibe off him AT ALL. He's not being booked as the future of the company, he's just being booked as a big guy who can beat jobbers. He was the same way on Smackdown, and nobody said anything about it.

I think that they're just trying to give the guy some mid-card mystique as a badass, so that his defection from Smackdown a few months ago seems like a bigger deal than it was. Then they fit him into a nice midcard angle (i.e. the Horseman reunion they talked about) and he's an upper-mid card monster heel.

They've yet to really treat him like a legit deal though, like they did Brock. In his first few matches, Brock was taking out one of the more over teams in the WWE (the Hardyz) with no problem whatsoever. So far, Bautista's beaten...um...Justin Credible and D'Lo on RAW, and Randy Orton a bunch of times on Smackdown. Not exactly the creme of the crop.

I'd be surprised if he's not jobbing to Van Dam or Booker in a few months.

Since everyone else is doing it (ok, not EVERYONE, but...)

Vikings (2-7) - I don't know. I didn't see it. Just saw that we lost.
Badgers (6-5) - Slipping into mediocrity six weeks in a row.
Buffy 7.Uhh Whatever this last one was earns a 7.00000314159 because the begining was terrible, but the meat of the episode was hillarious. But filler. Just like most of Season One...Is this some kind of whacky time warp?

I really think they'll give him a chance to become the next "The Next Big Thing". I mean, why not? The more big names the better. They need another fresh face on Raw.

He just doesn't seem ready to me. They should've waited until Sean O'Haire is back from injury and do the same thing with him.

Do you remember how Golberg started? He wasn't booked as the future of the company, that's for sure. He beat Glacier and some horrible other jobbers for several months before the fans got behind him and turned him into the uber-superstar that he still isn't to this day.

The problem with Batista is his total lack of any skill whatsoever. I mean Bull Buchanan can do more than this guy.

Squash matches aren't the best forum for displaying wrestling skill. All you have to do is come out, do a token sell of your opponent's offense, and then start no-selling and hit a few impressive-looking moves for the pin. Cf. Goldberg, whose sloppiness and awkwardness became screamingly obvious when he started trying to wrestle actual matches instead of just spear-jackhammer-good night. Anyone who's seen Batista as Leviathan in OVW (not me) is probably a better judge of his actual talents.

*sigh* That has got to be the biggest myth in wrestling history. It WASN'T Goldberg!

I don't see Batista as the next Goldberg, but they are letting him run over jobbers like Goldberg. They do that with all new people. And I don't think it's a bad idea either. I mean the first couple times I saw Batista I was more impressed than the first couple times I saw Lesnar.

Anyone built the way Batista is built is going to be "running over jobbers" when they debut. Crowd response will determine whether or not this guy ends up "the next Goldberg." I'm sure if we all stay nice and cynical and don't accept this new face, he'll disappear shortly. Don't worry. Soon he'll be gone.

They should push Batista as the RAW monster and have D-VON DUDLEY beat Brock Lesnar and become the Smackdown monster and have a big payoff fight on PPV.

Those two are the future of pro-wrestling.

Yeah, right. He's a hoss, he'll be here forever. If he sucks, they'll still shove him down our throat. So I'm hoping he'll be good.

How about we just let Batista be Batista and Lesnar be Lesnar? There are only so many ways to book a guy, and monster is a good one for a big guy.

Seems like somebody forgot the Goldberg that was going over Jerry Flynn and Mike Enos every week.

The sad thing is, Batista (then known as Leviathan) was built up SO WELL as an unstoppable, killer monster back in OVW! Before he lost the OVW title, Leviathan had only ONE LOSS in his entire tenure and that loss was to KANE and even THAT took a run-in from Steve Austin! Leviathan's matches were always so interesting and they consistantly kept the crowd on their feet.

It must kill Jim Cornette to see the talent he works so hard to build up continually get flushed down the toilet. (Well, except for Brock, obviously)
