I just need someone...anyone....to explain to me why they thought this was a good idea? I'm looking for someone to in some way, shape or form objectively analyze why this story might be considered at all interesting or palatable to the viewing audience. Granted, they did play it off in a slightly "humorous" way, but just the idea..please some one explain it to me.....

I think they are in the mode to get people talking about RAW, regardless if it is positive or negative talk. Hoping that it would turn into ratings. I wouldn't be surprised if the story on Dave's site was "leaked" to increase ratings. I mean, leak something so deplorable that people would have to watch to see if the WWE is really that low, then give people something a bit different and campy.

I think it's probably because when a young Paul Levesque was training to be a wrestler 12 years ago, he made a promise to himself that one day he would be involved in a sketch where he pretended to make sweet love to a mannequin.

WWE...Desire.

HHHHH just wants to maintain his status as a McMahon.

Future father in law: "Do this stupid angle."
HHHHH: "Yes, Vince."

Repeat process, over and over; ratings, good taste plummet.

But the question that everyone is asking the morning after and beyond is “Who is Katie Fick and what the hell is the Game talking about, calling Kane a murderer?”

My wife loves soap operas. She has been watching “All My Children” since she was in diapers. My wife was raised on the perils of the citizens of Pine Valley. She also has been a passive WWE fan over the years. (Over the past 11 years, between explaining the nuances of the armbar and hours of tape watching, she still likes the show despite me.)

Last night, as RAW trailed off, the life-long soap opera fan exclaimed, “Good! Now they got me hooked!”

That, my friends, is a good thing.

If the WWE makes that connection to the casual fan, then we all win. I am just like you. I love wrestling and I have since I was a kid. But this business from generation to generation has used the casual fan, the massive interest, to perpetuate itself. The trick is getting the casual fan to like what we like and that is great athletic action inside the squared circle.

Well, maybe your soap opera-loving wife dug it, but I watched it with my friend who's been a fan for 18 years. And he walked out before the show was even over.

I watched with 2 other people, combined years watching wrestling between us: 55 or so. The first of us left right after the HHH thing. The second right after the Dreamer match saying "well that was good, but I can't take anymore HHH" I stopped watching around the start of the main event. I really hope for WWE's sake that the casual soap opera fans do hook into this sort of thing, because slowly, one household at a time, they're turning off enough of the hardcore fans that it's beginning to make a difference.

I only watched because I had to see it. If I hadn't had warning, the show would have been off at the point of the bra coming off.

I'm thoroughly disgusted with the direction this show is taking.

I considered putting all of my wrestling items for sale on E-bay and putting a link to them in the complaint letter to the feedback site, but I thought they might see that as more melodramatic than effective. I don't know what I'm going to say in the feedback, but I hope they realize that they are far past the line and need to cut this shit out.

Oh, and before you flame me for being disgusted with this, realize that I was about 15 minutes away from calling Chris up and talking to him about pulling the plug on the board. I don't want to be associated with this crap in any way.

Guru, if you feel the need to disassociate from the WWE, heaven knows a lot of us could understand that, but please don't kill the board. Nuke the rasslin forums, but the Random forum is always the highlight of my web day! :)

Anybody that gets so worked up over a comedy angle that they would sell off their stuff and close a message forum probably needs to see a psychiatrist. Especially when they admit to knowing what was going to happen and still watched it anywayz.

Maybe.... just maybe... this isn't the type of show that he's interested in watching? Is it that hard to grasp that when some guy says, "I do not like this crap." that he means he DOES NOT LIKE IT, no matter how many times you guys say, "Lighten up and Like It."

I can understand that you thought it was funny. Written up several times on this board, I realized, "Hey, that was really fucking campy and stupid. Maybe I don't need to get so worked up about this." Then I remembered thinking when I was watching it, "I hope my Roommate doesn't come back... this stuff is awful." And I thought the same thing last week, too. When it gets to be a trend that RAW is so bad (in my eyes) to the point where I feel embarrased to be caught watching it, I think it's time to stop.

Smackdown only until after Survivor Series. I don't care if they do TLC 5, and headline with Goldberg/Austin next week. I'm not watching RAW, because I DON'T LIKE IT.

Vanquishing your enemies, making amends to those you have wronged, and leaving words of love and kindness for those around you become second nature as your own mortality looms

However, true strength lies not in these last desperate acts, but in the actions of one who has to get out of bed the next day and face the consequences of doing that which you believe is right.

You know, all I wanted was a decent show tonight. It was a crappy day, and the one thing I wanted was a decent RAW. And this is the garbage they give me.

Not to be dramatatic and all... but give me a break.

Triple H, dressed up as Kane, molesting a "corpse"....

This is not why I watch wrestling. And if this is what they would have had on TV when I was 9 years old, I would not have watched then, either....

I never said anybody had to like the show, but if you don't like a show, shut the fuck up and stop watching it. It's common sense. Watching someone specifically because you know you're not going to like it is masochistic and grounds for a sanity check.

1) I am stopping. I've already said that.

2) I like wrestling. I've enjoyed watching the WWE over the years. I do not like what RAW has been doing lately. That does not mean I do not like wrestling. I am voicing my opinion on it because this is a wrestling message board. A place where people voice their opinions about wrestling.

3) ...if you don't like *people expressing their opinions about wrestling*, shut the fuck up and stop *coming here*. It's common sense.

Is it just me or do we go around and around in this circle every week. People complain about the shows, someone complains about them complaining, they respond by complaining about the complaining about them complaning. It kinda makes you wonder why we don't all shut the fuck up and stop taking this stuff so seriously doesn't it?

I keep coming here because I've enjoyed the WWE a lot more since I started posting here. Perhaps it's just to spite all the smarts who have branded every Raw in the last 3 months as the single worst show to ever air on television. Whatever it is, there are only 2 other shows on television I can stand, so I'll do what it takes to enhance my viewing pleasure.

Note: Just wanted to mention that I too thought that stuff from Kevin Kelly was some cracka-ass bowlcheet. But someone asked what the WWE was thinking, and there it was. Basically, Vince and the Titan Tower drones strike me as the type who take all the corporate-speak about market share and target demographics seriously without understanding that your show has to be, ya know, good, to expand any demographic.

"Well, looks like we're down to just the hardcore fans, now"
"Well, dammit, how do we make more of them?"
"Um... hey, you know what my wife watches all the time? Soap operas!"
"Yes! Yes, dammit, that's brilliant! Lots of people do, Kevin, not just your slut wife! And soap operas are horrible! We don't even have to worry about the shows being *good* anymore. Oh, Stephanie..."
