Independent Wrestling – ECPW (NJ) – TV Recap
For the first time, I’m watching Channel 3 – Public Access at 10:30 PM on a Thursday night. This show is a half hour broadcast of ECPW. For those of you living in Morris County, NJ you can see it too. I’m just a regular wrestling fan, with no association to any promotion, giving you a recap of what I saw. For more info, go to www.ecpw.net/ecpw. Enjoy.
The first is a tag team match featuring Syxx Gage and Gatiero (sp?) against the Next Generation. Appearance wise, Syxx Gage was the biggest guy here at a listed 400 lbs wearing red facepaint. He did the usual big guy moves, splashes and elbow drops. The other team had the look of the Hardy Boyz. The big guy won the match with an Ace Cutter similar to Brock Lesner’s F5. It is an airplane spin turned into a neckbreaker. Love the finisher.
The second match was joined in progress, it featured Vic Divine vs. a guy whose name I didn’t catch. Divine has the build and look of a good wrestler like John Cena. He countered his opponents spinning heel kick with a catch and slam. He had a killer finisher, which I’ve never seen before. He uses Test’s pumphandle slam/Meltdown move. But, instead of finishing with a slam, midstream he turns it into a spinning Rockbottom. It was cool.
The main event was for the TV Title. The TV champion Johnny Thundar vs. Kasey Coresh. Thundar has the look of a clean shaven Chris Jericho. And Kasey’s gimmick is a wacko from Waco, TX ie: David Koresh. He has the look and gimmick of the new wacko Stevie Richards. Allura was the female valet for Thundar. She hit a hurricanranna on Coresh and Thundar hit him with a superkick for the pin.
After the match, Allura got into an altercation with the Pub Bully. The Pub Bully looked like a Balls Mahoney type. He gave her a powerbomb after she slapped him. Ouch, that looked like it hurt. This sets up a feud between Johnny Thundar and the Pub Bully.
Overall: I liked it. I’m sure it was better live as the video feed blipped on and off at times. It looked like they were getting a satellite feed from the Middle East. The whole thing was half an hour long, so give the Vic Divine match 5 minutes and the other two 10 minutes each. The best part of the show was that they had one really good announcer doing play-by-play. The guy (Die Hard?) had the style of Joey Styles and did a great job. His heel shtick was not needed, but he had good lines like, “Johnny Thundar is like Rocky, he eats lightning and craps thunder.” The other guy doing the color was inaudible most of the time and doesn’t have the voice for announcing. Be back next week featuring at least one guy whose name you all know. He may not have Daffney, but he has the world title, he is Crowbar.

I’m sorry everyone, but after watching tonights Smackdown bringing back Stephanie as the General Manager, I’m not in a jovial mood. Stephanie still has the screeching voice, and still shills for Triple H as the star of the show. The show ends with Triple H leaving Stephanie getting into a limo with Eric Bishoff. Does anyone really care what channel Triple H is on? And, for goodness sake, must EVERY angle revolve around Triple H?
"Mr. Ratings" Dan The Man defeated Jersey Cowboy Mac 3 by a victory roll with holding the ropes. Dan looked like Kenny from Tough Enough 2. Dan fights with the fans on his way out going for heel heat.
The main even featured Crowbar with Serena vs. “Sure Thing” Ryan Wing for the title. Serena is a girl who looks good, only a little like Daffney. Crowbar shows me a lot in this match. He wins after multiple lionsaults off the second rope ala: Chris Jericho. He also looks a bit bulked up like Bradshaw. The announcers play off his WCW matches with David Flair. David sure was green, but that’s nepotism for you. Just like Stephanie…sigh…
So that’s the show for now. Here’s hoping the state of wrestling improves.
