Skip Sheffield, one of WWE's rising stars from the Nexus group, will reportedly be out of action for "some time" after suffering an injury at Wednesday night's Raw house show in Hawaii.

The Wrestling Observer reports that Sheffield suffered a broken left ankle during his match at the house show.

Sheffield was in a tag match with Nexus member David Otunga against WWE tag champions Hart Dynasty. Our correspondent at the house show reported that Sheffield laid face-down in the ring after the match with an apparent leg injury. He had to be helped out of the ring and reportedly could not put any weight on his left leg.

Fuckbeans. Sheffield has been friggin' great. Hope he heals fast!

This sucks. Sheffield is the Nexus' tank. The way he's been allowed to be an asskicker has been one of the strongest aspects of Nexus in their in-ring capacity.

On the other hand, John Morrison can rest easy for a while knowing that clothesline won't be taking his block off for a few weeks.

Husky Harris can certainly take Sheffield's place, but that still leaves one more spot to be filled, as long as they don't bring back Darren Young. I'm thinking Alex Riley would be a good choice. It definitely can't be Percy Watson or the Mustache Man.

It'll be interesting to see just how they play this, especially given that they've already taped next week's Raw. I would hope that they'd use it either as "he did X, so he's out of the group" or even have him "taken out" by a WWE member backstage.

He's really grown on me out of everyone. Once he stopped with the goofy catchphrases and focused on destruction he's been awesome.

Also, if the WoW movie ever gets made, he totally has to play an orc. There's no one better suited.

They've got two weeks til the next Raw show. I wonder if they just have him fixed up and then put him in a cast. He could probably still clothesline folk on one leg as the groups outside enforcer.

That could work, Amos. And it would certainly solidify him even more as a badass (I personally think they've done a great job of making him look like one already).

They could also just be honest and have Nexus do a promo where they say "Skip broke his leg, there will be HELL TO PAY!". They cut a swath of destruction, Team WWE makes a comeback then BOOM, Skip comes back and clotheslines someone's head off and the Nexus starts a refreshed rampage.

Skip clotheslining people with a cast on and having those Scott Studwell eyes would be very badass, indeed.

Wuh oh. Losing important participants in a concept WWE has already started to get tired of and mess around with usually doesn't bode well for that concept, e.g. Kevin Nash and the WWF nWo.

I hope Nexus just says he got injured rather than kick him out too. But if the idea was they would kick more than one person out besides DY then I guess it would only make sense that they would, even if he wasn't originally on the hit list.

Unless he's known for being fragile, I can't see the WWE ditching him. He's the Snitskytista of the group. I would have bet he and Barrett are the sure-fire locks for staying within Nexus as long as that group is around.

I definitely don't think WWE will ditch him, I just don't want him kicked out by Nexus and coming back as a babyface, as that sounds boring.

Skip is one of my faves in Nexus. One of the understated things in the Summerslam match is when he says "I can fix this" and then manages to Killify a couple of people to get it either tied up or close.

He would have been good as a 2010 version of Big Bubba Rogers when he was Jim Cornette's bodyguard. Cause I could see him take a shot and then just straighten his tie, readjust his hat and then try to kill the Babyface.

In addition to the "I can fix this" moment he also said upon Daniel Bryan's return; "You said he was gone, Wade. You said he was gone!!"

I'm not concerned about his status within the company or anything though. I mean, he eliminated two people at Summerslam and it took two finishers and multiple chairshots to take him down, so they are obviously like what he offers.

It'd TOTALLY be badass for him to be clothslining people in the cast.

The "Who ran over Austin" thing is the smart move. Have Nexus come out, Wade can be all "Whoever got to Skip, get out here and take your medicine, or we go through that locker room person by person until you own up!"

The upside: Someone gets to look like a badass when they say "Yeah, I broke Skip's ankle, and he cried like a bitch when I did i*gets beheaded by a healed up Sheffield Sickle*"

Another upside: This injury gets him away from David "Jennifer Hudson can do WAY better than my no-talent ass" Otunga.

I'm Charlie Owens, good night, and good luck.

It's too bad that Sheffield's out for a lengthy period, because he's been the breakout Nexus star so far. He was made a HORRIBLE babyface on NXT, but he's found a niche as the angry enforcer type.

But this isn't going to kill the Nexus angle by any means. Remember that they're wrapping up season 2 of NXT and (in kayfabe terms) the E haven't given those rookies any reason not to turn on management too, so Nexus could reload whenever they want.

Wouldn't this be a good time for a WWE guy to freak out or for them to jump a Nexus guy and do an old injury/ take out angle?

Read it and weep, fella

Probably, except they just kinda did that with Darren Young. Plus, if they did go the "Team WWE picks off Nexus guys one-by-one" route, they probably wouldn't let Skip (also my fave Nexus guy) get taken out so early.

Sure they would. It's called "Holy crap, this guy broke his ankle, we need to have him be the next guy get taken out."

Of course they have to go that route NOW. My original point was that if "take them out one-by-one" was their original pre-broken-ankle plan, Sheff wouldnt be one of the first to go.

I think this could be an opportunity to bring the Harts into this as that is who he was against when he broke his ankle. The main cast of characters in team WWE can move onto other things, but bring in people like the Harts and you have a way for Nexus to get some gold, as well as get some of your younger guys involved in a hot angle. I think it would be pretty badass for DH Smith to come out and say "Yeah I broke his ankle, so what does that mean I'm going to do to you" or something in those regards.

He is. He's actually got a couple of connections in the "biz", but he's an elitist when it comes to any other fan opinion. At least, IMO.
