My musical taste is more in line with Progressive Metal/Experimental Music (Dream Theater, Buckethead, Les Claypool, Liquid Tension Experiment, Steve Vai, etc.)
The other day however, I stumbled upon this track on youtube: a compilation Between Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Eminen, remixed by Travis Barker of Blink 182 (and a whole bunch of other bands most of us have never heard of) fame. Link below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7ECB0OHyCs
Regardless of your opinion of Blink 182 (I don't care for them much), it is pretty much undeniable how talented travis Barker is at drumming. I've seen mostly postive reviews of this song, but the general consensus is Eminem and Barker are the stars here and everyone else is expendable. (I would buy an album between those two in a heartbeat.) Just thought I would share this because I have a pretty anti-rap mentality and this song has been stuck in my head for days. I'm just curious to see if anyone else gets a similar experience from this track.
Barker also remixed that Solja Boy track that plays 3-4 times at ever damn party I've been to in the past 6 months (or so it feels like). Its also a good remix, but I hate that song with a passion, and I don't think any remix will ever change that. | Promote this thread! |               | StingArmy

| #2 Posted on 29.11.09 1847.43 | Instant Rating: 5.47 | Travis Barker's remix of the Soulja Boy song was pretty good. That's because that song is almost completely devoid of any instrumentation. It consists of super simple production (allegedly made using the DEMO version of a popular music studio program) and lyrics that are yelled and/or slurred at various points throughout the song. Barker added drumming and guitaring and - tada! - you have music.
His remix of the Drake song, on the other hand, was just too much IMO. Granted I like the original song a lot so I'm probably biased, but the drums and guitars added to this song weren't necessary. The production on this song was much, much, MUCH more complex than on the Soulja Boy song, so Barker's addition feels like it's just sitting on top of the original song instead of being mixed into it. I like most of the remixes he does but my ears could barely stand to sit through the entirety of this song.
