Otherwise known as the Community Halloween episode. Otherwise known as Mexican Halloween, "which is quite offensive to those who know Mexican Halloween as a sexual position."

Executive Producer and creator Dan Harmon Tweeted that "Mexican Halloween Sexual Position" was the number 3 Google search last night. Also, they made it up. Honestly, I searched for it... for... clarification.

Abed as Batman, specifically his rambling rant at the end, murdered me like the Joker.

I initially thought Pierce was dressed as Harry Hamlin in Clash of the Titans (complete with Golden Owl) and not the Beastmaster. Either way, I'm old.

Troy was dressed as Eddie Murphy in Delirious and had my favorite line:

"Can I ask you something I've always wanted to ask the real Batman?"
"Yeahhhh."
"Am I good looking?"
"You're a very attractive young man."

I think the Batman rant at the end is maybe the funniest bit they've done on the show so far - and I honestly got the impression they didn't give the actor a script for it, they just had him ramble until he ran out of things to say. I recognized the Beastmaster immediately, which means I am also extremely old, and have questionable taste in movies.

Even though he had spent every moment of the episode up until then in costume, Bat-Abed rescuing Jeff and Pierce from the collapsing fort still managed to surprise me and kill me dead from laughter. Bravo, show...bravo.

Oh, and if we're still having that debate, Community > Modern Family, by a country mile (at least over the last couple weeks). This week's MF was good, though. Just weird because it felt like it was shown out of order.

I'm giving it to Community too; show is delivering real fresh laughs with regularity and it's got a deep ensemble fleshed out already. Modern Family has some really strong performances and beats but there's been some un-undercut too-sweet sentimentality cropping up at the end of the episodes that's a bit unsettling.

For a 'slutty skeleton costume,' that was a disappointingly conservative wardrobe choice. Come on show, don't tease me with the prospect of Alison Brie in a slutty outfit and then not deliver.

Kirk, crackers are a family food. Happy families. Maybe single people eat crackers, we don't know. Frankly, we don't want to know. It's a market we can do without.

So I guess Modern Family vs. Community is the new 30 Rock vs. Office? (I'll concede the point about the sentimentality at the end of the episode but Phil is too awesome not to put MF over the top. Plus Ed O'Neill!!! Jay's disinterest for just about everyone other than Gloria is amusing.)

Abed as Batman was awesome. I loved how they set up him saving Jeff and Pierce.

I really need to try the spanish professor's pick up line sometime...

SECONDED!!! (I was finally able to get caught up on the show on TiVo this morning).

Abedman was indeed awesome, and I still can't get over how subtly great Chevy Chase is on this show.

Fun, fun, fun show.

We are in the same boat on the "catching up on Community" today. I loved this episode a lot. Abed as Batman was so great.

I do have to question you on the subtlety of Chevy Chase, especially in this episode. It was great mind you, but nothing about this episode screamed restraint for me. I'm glad they gave him this story though and he killed it.

I guess I'm coming at it from being a person who is rapidly approaching middle age and being of the generation who remembers Chevy when he was *CHEVY CHASE,* how he fell from grace, and now he's on a weekly situation comedy where he's not touted as a major selling point for the show and is doing very good work as part of the ensemble cast and not being allowed to or not overpowering the other cast members.

The comedy and the character are definitely not subtle, but him being involved and doing such a great job is certainly being treated that way so far. Hopefully, it only means good things for him and the show as people re-discover him, or find out about him for the first time (for all you youn'uns).

Again, fun, fun show.

I'm not-so-secretly hoping that Beverly D'Angelo can make an appearance as one of Pierce's seven ex-wives.

Fantastic movie. Totally unlike the "usual" Scorsese movie, but right up there with any of his classics. Great film for kids, though I reckon they wouldn't understand the movie-history portions of the story.
