So WWE says they're concerned about the way Jeff Hardy is living his life outside of the ring. Does anybody know what they're talking about? This doesn't have anything to do with his hanky-telegraphed affinity for hard, gay S&M, does it?

I've also been wondering about what people have been talking about. I've seen a lot of posts where people mention Jeff Hardy's "lifestyle outside the ring" but I haven't seen any elaboration. What could he be doing in living his life that would have the company concerned? Is it anything to do with the rumors of his "alternative" lifestyle? Does the Fed not want to be associated with that? It's interesting that the company would be concerned with someone's behavior and NOT have it be related to drugs and/or alcohol

Hee hee. No wait, Vince could use that. Remember Raven's whole handcuff thing on Raw a couple of weeks ago. Have Jeff team up with Raven and be Raw's Billy and Chuck, only HARDCORE!

Seriously, I think they might be talking about his penchant for death-defying dirtbike stunts and other "Xtreme" things. I remember seeing a special on Excess (R.I.P) when Jeff was riding a took a nasty tumble. The kicker was Matt laughing at him when it happened and saying to the camera "Oh, don't worry, he does this stuff all the time."

While there's *no* confirmation of this, Jeff Hardy has the raver look down pat, has taken to glow-in-the-dark acessories, recently lost a LOT of weight and muscle mass and has the general look and demeanor of someone on ecstacy. I'm pretty sure that's what people are talking about.

Actually I was surprised by how big the guy looked during the Raven thing on RAW this week. It could be a drug problem with him, but I don't think it's causing him to get smaller from what I can tell.

I'll tell you right now, if Jeff's hooked on ecstasy, no problem. If he's hanging out at The Anvil over by the West Side Highway, that's cool. Hell, if he's doing both at the same time with his buddies from some Religious Right quilting bee, I'm down with that.

But if he's dragging that acoustic guitar to coffee houses where he sings "My Love Gave Me A Chicken," or whatever that folk song is, THEN we've got trouble.

Because THAT'S an alternative lifestyle I just won't stand for.

Anybody ever see the Boy George Behind The Music episode?

There's this one interview on it from Live Aid where he's coated with some sort of white substance. (while he's passing out from drug use).

That's what Jeffy's glowpaint reminds me of.

I really don't keep up with the outside happenings of the business very closely, but doesn't the WWE suspend or fire wrestlers who they KNOW have a drug problem? Again, I don't keep track of this stuff, but wasn't Brian Christopher fired because he was caught with drugs? Wasn't Eddie G., X-Pac, and others suspended for similar problems? I don't think the WWE would readily allow someone to jump off the top of a ladder onto another worker's neck if they thought his timing, aim, etc. could be affected by mind altering things. It just doesn't make any sense. I wouldn't even intertain getting into the ring with someone who might be strung out or even a "little" high, if that is possible. Okay, maybe he isn't "performing" high, which is the counter-argument I will receive, but I've known addicts and dealt with many, many of them (including Ecstacy users), and I can't say that any of them had their complete wits about them even when they had gone a day or two without popping pills. I just don't see VKM and the boys taking a chance.

As for the gay lifestyle thing, I doubt the WWE would say anything to anyone other than Hardy about that if they were concerned. Too much backlash to be had from certain groups and the media if they appear at all to be anti-gay. They have enough trouble now as it is. Why would they ask for more?

I tend to agree with MollyFan2K2 in saying that it is most likely his daredevil lifestyle. In every other athletic endeavor, performers (players) are prohibited from taking part in overly risky activities as part of their contracts. That doesn't appear to be the case in the WWE since the business itself can be viewed as a risky activity. Still, if the honchos at the office are trying to get they boys to lay off of the high flying spots to some degree (as JR has mentioned many times in his column), then I am sure they don't want them tumbling down a hill with a dirtbike attached to their forehead.

If there's one thing the WWE isn't, it's anti-gay. Pat Patterson, who's held a high ranking position in the Whee, is openly homosexual.

When did the 'Jeff is so gay' jokes stop and the factual statements that 'Jeff is actually gay' start? Has he actually come out at some point and I missed it? Otherwise it's just pure speculation on the IWC's part isn't it?

Well, for one thing, they asked him outright on the almighty UPN 9 News (I think CRZ was in New York at the time and recapped it -- I love when he does that, because it's SO great) and he didn't deny it. He gave some evasive "people can think what they want" answer. We all know what that means.

I just dug it up for your viewing pleasure (source: http://slashwrestling.com/smackdown/011108.html):

Reporter: Do alternative clothes, alternative hairstyles and a love of alternative music mean an alternative lifestyle? (What a great quote!) Well, some have questioned Jeff's sexuality.

Jeff: I really don't care what they think - if they think I'm, like some, a gay dude or, whatever, you know, it don't bother me. It's all good, you know....I'm totally...see-cure.

No, it means that when a celebrity has the opportunity to set the record straight (no pun intended)and instead they give that "it's nobody's business, people can think what they want" answer, it's an open invitation to even more rampant, even irresponsible speculation.

On the subject of their sexual preferences, compare the responses of Mike Piazza, for example, to that of Ricky Martin. Whose answer does Jeff Hardy's non-denial denial fall closest to?

Whoah-HOAH, brother! Save your accusations for someone with less than five or six gay friends (one of whom I happen to be IMing with at this very moment, coincidentally enough). All I'm saying is that I personally don't give evasive answers like that unless the answer is yes. And neither does anyone else, really. Hey, if Jeff is gay, more power to him! It's just that he is probably gay.

Patterson is gay?

Does that mean he and Brisco...

...Not that there's anything wrong with that.

It's weird that they're worried about jeff's personal life, yet they're giving him a push (i guess) in this undertaker feud. Maybe they're trying to rekindle his love for the business (if he has lost it)??

I don't know much about drugs.. but ecstasy isn't THAT big a deal, right? I get the impression he might be on heroin, actually, what with all the losing weight and covering his arms with those sleeves most of the time.

When Raven handcuffed him to the ropes it looked like he had tattoos on his left arm. Could those have been real? Maybe he wears the 'arm-warmers' to cover them up like Allen Iverson. Just a thought. ... I also could have seen it wrong.
