I know I am behind the times when it's been a viral hit for a couple of weeks and it takes an e-mail from MY PARENTS to tune me in.
At the risk of appearing even more behind, the video regarding Apple's new laptop, the Macbook Wheel, was even better.
"You can also let the predictive sentence technology complete the sentence for you."
"I'll buy almost anything that's shiny and made by Apple."
"It remains to be scene if the Macbook Wheel will catch on in the business world, where people use computers for actual work and not just dicking around."
Both videos (the SONY and Apple ones) were probably the funniest things I'd seen in some time. It's bizarre, but I'd never really heard about THE ONION before, just that they've put out a couple of books and a movie.
Looks like I'm behind the times, but eh...I have the day off tomorrow, so I'll check it out.
By the way...was the item in the Sony piece an actual piece of equipment, or just a prank?

Looks to me like "That stupid piece of fucking shit that makes you want to rip your eyes out." Is just a pretty standard A/V input selector. It amazes me that Sony would play along with the joke though.
It sounds like a hardware problem. I have a drive that showed the exact same symptoms. I cracked the case and have confirmed that there are some solder joints that are shot where the USB connector meets the PCB.
