| #1 Posted on 20.6.08 1632.51 | Instant Rating: 5.16 | So after game 1 of the Chicago Crosstown Classic, where the White Sox left about 300 men on base, I have two observations.
1. The Cubs play like a team that expects to win every game, no matter what happens and so far they are more right than not in that.
2. I've seen one team like that in the last few years, and that was the 2005 White Sox. No matter what hole they were in, you waited for the inevitable comeback.
So that's why I'm going to call it right now. 2008 World Series champs will be the Chicago Cubs.

EDIT: And just for the record, this wouldn't be the first time people have trembled in fear of the dreaded "spf whammy"...or even the first time it's been used against the Cubs

"catcher A.J. Pierzynski, who is always booed loudly, weighed in after fans directed a profane chant in his direction Saturday.
“They’re idiots,” Pierzynski told the Chicago Sun-Times. “It’s like what Lee Elia said: ‘Eighty-five percent of the people work, the other (bleeps) come out here.”’ Elia was a former Cubs manager, most well-known for an expletive-filled rant against Cubs’ fans 25 years ago."

Isn't Ozzie due for another explosion, as that seems to be the only thing that gets the White Sox to play well, other than visits from the Pirates. | Sec19Row53

I think Ozzie is calculating enough to not do this when they're heading out to LA for three. Knowing that they play better at home, look for it to happen on the return flight from LA. |
