This (sports.espn.go.com) seemed to come as a bit of a surprise. To me anyway. Injuries really caught up with him the last few years I guess, and arguably really hurt his HOF chances. Still, a heck of a quarterback in his day, and I guy I always enjoyed watching. I guess this ensures the Ravens are drafting a QB in the first couple rounds. They probably want to find themselves a servicable veteran as well though, cause I sure as heck wouldn't feel happy about Kyle Boller being the exeprienced presence under centre. Promote this thread!

It wasn't a matter IF he announced it, but WHEN he would do it and hopefully before the draft. -- 2006 Time magazine Person of the Year -- "Who would want to rent a chicken?" -- The Bowler

He played hurt way more than your average QB would have. Enjoy the retirement Steve! You deserve it!

Being a die-hard Titans fan, it was sorta a sad day. By far, one of the toughest SOBs to ever play in the NFL. Now I can start wearing my #9 Titans jersey again.
With all these #1's dropping like flies, it'll only make the annual BCS whine-fest that much louder this year when TCU or Boise State (or both) get left out of the title game in favor of Alabama.
