For the week beginning Tuesday 4/8, you'll find 246 new DVDs, 7 new Blu-Ray, 8 new HD DVD (take THAT, dead format!) and even one new UMD. And all on THIS page! You can't beat that with a stick!
For those of you visiting us for the first time, welcome! Here's how we roll:
Unlike those sneaky Amazon folks, who are apparently so desperate for clicks that they only let you see 12 items on a page, we assemble the whole shebang, then place EVERYTHING on one (very long) page for your convenience!
Hovering over links should provide you with Amazon's current price (which will usually be at its lowest during the pre-order and on the day of release!)
Adding an item from here via the magic link click action provides a friendly referral from The W, so please consider making your purchase - or ANY purchase, for that matter - through us. It'll place a few coins in our tip jar and YOU'LL get some good karma...well, you'll get your merchandise, anyway. Probably.
As much as we love Amazon, sometimes - often - they are a little light when it comes to the details about the stuff they're selling. That's where we step in - I attempt to some provide additional exposition (or, more likely, a bad joke) along with links to more information represented by IMDb icons (which can be clicked to take you to a movie's IMDb listing) or tv.com icons (which can be clicked to take you to the relevant episode list from tv.com)! And if I can't give you THAT, I'll sometimes take you directly to the distributor's own information...especially when they're also offering a trailer or free preview. You can waste LOTS of time on these - and really, isn't that what the Internet is all about? (Distributors with no Internet presence suck, by the way. You get NOTHING for THOSE listings. Sorry, but I can only do so much with my ability to read minds!)
ALL links should open new windows while keeping this one alive, so you can click, look, and then close to come right back here! We never want you to leave!
If you don't mind my asking for some promotion, please tell a friend about this post (or vote this thread up on your favourite social networking site with the icon(s) of your choice at the bottom of this post) because it takes me a long time to put these togegther, and I'm a big fan of more eyeballs! We're also happy for you to share this link to others via email as well - a lot of people do that!
Please feel free to add a reply and share your two cents about any of the listings you see here - show off your impressive knowledge, share your opinion about something you've seen, something you're looking forward to seeing, or make your own crappy jokes which are better than mine!
We also hope that if you buy something, you come back and tell us what you thought about it! This has hardly ever happened, but it's always appreciated when it does!
If you have something to say but don't want to say it publicly (or register for the board), you can also email me direct at CRZ.DVD@gmail.com!
Let's start the show...
PICK OF THE WEEK - it's also the KINO OF THE WEEK Houdini: The Movie Star (Three Disc Collection) (The W at Amazon) (1919-1923) Collection of films, shorts and serials featuring the escape artist - big list and trailer at Kino (kino.com)

That's one of three Starz/Anchor Bay releases which I'm pretty sure are just REreleases...here are the other two and you can see what I mean: The Jazz Singer: The 25th Anniversary Edition (1980) Neil Diamond IS Tender Mercies (1983) Robert Duvall, Tess Harper
ADRIAN ZMED SIGHTING OF THE WEEK Running From The Shadows (2000) More info and trailer at York (store.yorkentertainment.com)
TOTALLY GAY FILMS OF THE WEEK FirstOUT 2 or First Out 2 Collection of gay-themed shorts (short FILMS, not short SHORTS....honestly, people) - more info and press kit at Alluvial Filmworks (villagelighthouse.com) Running Deep (2007) More info at Ariztical (ariztical.com)
POSSIBLY GLORIFIED BOOTLEGS/PUBLIC DOMAIN COLLECTIONS FROM JEF FILMS: Better Safe Than Sorry Compilation of educational films from the 1950s and 1960s The Wife of General Ling (UK, 1937)
AND THE REST OF THE MOVIES High Freakquency (1998) John Witherspoon Edge of Quarrel (2000) Straight edge'rs vs. punks - WHO WILL SURVIVE Silver Man (2000) Paul Popowich, Daniel Baldwin, Eugene Levy, Louise Fletcher Thank Heaven (2001) Matt Keeslar, Jenny McCarthy Moving Malcolm (Canada, 2003) Benjamin Ratner, John Neville, Elizabeth Berkley Innocent Voices (Voces Inocentes - Mexico/USA/Puerto Rico, 2004) The Tollbooth (2004) Between (USA/Mexico, 2005) Poppy Montgomery Cruel World (2005) Edward Furlong, Jamie Pressly The 4th Dimension (2006)
The Engagement (direct to DVD, 2008) White Jewish guy proposes to African American Baptist - WITH HILARIOUS RESULTS - completely UNhilarious trailer at Maverick (maverickentertainment.cc) - really, this is the most random assemblage of unhelpful clips I've ever seen, but at least you can see what Clifton Davis looks like these days Magus (2008) Julie Strain can still get work! Mothers Day: The Sister Maybe it's a sequel to "Mother's Day?" No idea Mothers Day: The Sister And here's another listing for it, equally uninformative! But at least it's cheaper if you feel like taking a chance! The World According to Shorts Six short from various countries 4 and a Half Terrorists (short, 2008) - www.4andahalfterrorists.com Day of the Dead (direct to DVD, 2008) Of COURSE it needed to be remade again! Mena Suvari, Nick Cannon, Ving Rhames - trailer at First Look (firstlookstudios.com) Day of the Dead Other than being more expensive, I don't know that this isn't the same as above with a different cover
Fireworks Celebration If I had to guess, I'd say that's probably EXACTLY what's on here. (Since they also have actual listed aquarium and fireplace DVDs, so I feel confident in that hunch.)
Naturescapes Dr. Jeffrey Thompson - get this description: "After a few minutes of listening, your brainwaves 'lock' onto embedded 'Alpha' pulses and lead you to an irresisitibly serene state of mind, where you are peaceful, relaxed and in harmony with nature." Uh...huh.
And finally... Space Ace [Blu-ray] (1984) Don Bluth's second laserdisc video game (Dragon's Lair was the first) comes to Blu-Ray - ensuring Seadawg will now buy a Blu-Ray player
Well, we've made it through another list...come back Monday to find out what's changed and what's selling - but the talking can start...
Mythbusters - Collection 3 This description is NOT helpful! "Includes these 12 favorite episodes:Jet-Assisted Chevy, Biscuit Bazooka, Poppy Seed Drug Test, Alcatraz Escape, Chicken Gun, Breakstep Bridge, Buried in Concrete, Ancient Death Ray, Beat the Radar Detector, Boom Lift Catapult, Breaking Glass, Border Slingshot"
Fixed. The Breakstep Bridge was one of their earliest myths and I hope they revisit it because it was such a total failure on all levels.
I'll second that. Walk Hard was second only to Superbad for comedies in 2007 - the Beatles scene literally made me cry laughing. Also: everything Tim Meadows says or does.
Did anyone actually even watch Lions for Lambs or Resurrecting the Champ? I just caught L4L and liked it. It was different, kind of 3 stories intertwined going on simultaneously, and Tom Cruise wasn't too annoying. RtC...Samuel L. Jackson was fantastic. I thought it was a really good movie, and while Josh Harnett could easily be replaced in most every movie he's in by far better actors with much better results, he didn't kill the movie.
While I don't share the love for Walk Hard, I found it entertaining.
My kids enjoyed Water Horse, but it was pretty bland and predictable, IMO.
Reservation Road actually had nothing to do with Indians...go figure. It wasn't bad, but I'd have a hard time actually recommending it.
6 Peliculas- Enmascaradas - Clasicas de la Lucha Libre - El Santo, Blue Demon, Mil Mascaras, Tinieblas (!), El Fantasma Blanco - of course, this is the only set for which Navarre DOESN'T provide a list of films, grrrrrumble, and I can't QUITE make out the tiny print on their box graphic (which the Amazon one doesn't even HAVE)
Based on the random unparsed spanish jutted in the end of the description
* El Hijo de Alma Grande (1974) - Blue Demon * Leyendas Macabras de la Colonia (1973) - Mil, Fantasma Blanco, and Tinieblas * Las Momias de San ngel (1973) - Mil, Fantasma Blanco, and Tinieblas * El Robo de las Momias de Guanajuato (1972) - Mil, Rayo de Jalisco, Blue Angel * Misterio en las Bermudas (1977) - Mil, Santo, Demon * Vuelven Los Campeones Justicieros (1972) - Blue Demon, el Fantasma Blanco, el Rayo de Jalisco and el Avispon Escarlata

I coulda sworn that wasn't there when I looked at it yesterday. (Also at the Navarre site where I now see the exact same text in the exact same place - weird)
What's MORE weird is it's now showing "In Stock" instead of "Pre-Order" which makes me think its release date was moved up when we weren't looking. I dunno, less than $2/film is pretty good.....
I don't suppose you've seen any of these. (I don't know why you would, but it doesn't hurt to ask!)
NEW ADDS - NOW SHOWING AVAILABLE: Flow (The W at Amazon) (Canada/USA, 1995) One more totally gay movie - More info and trailer at Pathfinder Pictures (pathfinderpictures.com) American Drug War: The Last White Hope (2007) You've heard it all before...the government sucks, legalize crack, and so forth
That's ridiculous. I'd always considered Slutfest and Thick Booty Strippers to be companion pieces. You can't truly appreciate the brilliance of the one without fully experiencing the other.
I don't know what kind of game Amazon is playing here, but I would encourage you all to wait until both are available before laying down your hard earned money.

I'd blame Too Clean Entertainment (dot com).
(By the way, "Slutfest" is now showing as available 4/15...the saga continues)
