Hello.
This week we have 318 new DVDs, 5 HD DVDs, and 3 Blu-Rays in the big list, but no super duper exciting blockbuster showered with Oscar type stuff. (That's NEXT week.) However, there are a few gems below - assuming you think like I think. (You NEVER think like I think.) As always, I'm interested in seeing what catches YOUR eye, so don't forget to encapsulate your reactions in post attached to this thread when you're done! DO IT!
For those of you who HAVE been here before, you know to skip the rest of this opening and head for the PICK OF THE WEEK.
For those of you who HAVEN'T been here before, here's the brief overview:
Unlike those Amazon folks who are so desperate for clicks that they only let you see 12 items on a page, we got everything on one (very long) page for your convenience!
Hovering over links should provide you with Amazon's current price (which will usually be at its lowest during the pre-order and on the day of release!)
Adding an item from here into your Amazon shopping cart provides a friendly referral from The W, so please consider making your purchase - or ANY purchase, for that matter - through us. It'll place a few coins in our tip jar and you'll get some good karma...well, you'll get your merchandise, anyway. Probably.
As much as we love Amazon, sometimes - often - they are a little light when it comes to the details. That's where we step in - I attempt to some provide additional exposition (or, more likely, a bad joke) along with links to more information represented by IMDb icons (which can be clicked to take you to a movie's IMDb listing) or tv.com icons (which can be clicked to take you to the relevant episode list from tv.com)! And if I can't give you THAT, I'll sometimes take you directly to the distributor's own information...especially when they're also offering a trailer or free preview. You can waste LOTS of time on these - and really, isn't that what the Internet is all about? (Distributors with no Internet presence suck, by the way. You get NOTHING for THOSE listings. Sorry, but I can only do so much with my ability to read minds!)
ALL links should open new windows while keeping this one alive, so you can click, look, and then close to come right back here! We never want you to leave!
If you don't mind my asking for some promotion, please tell a friend about this post (or vote this thread up on Digg/Propeller/ Newsvine/Reddit/&c. with a click of the icon(s) of your choice at the bottom of the page) because it takes me a long time and I'm a big fan of more eyeballs! We're also happy for you to share this link to others via email as well - a lot of people do that!
Please feel free to add a reply and share your two cents about any of the listings you see here - show off your impressive knowledge, share your opinion about something you've seen, something you're looking forward to seeing, or make your own crappy jokes which are better than mine!
We also hope that if you buy something, you come back and tell us what you thought about it! This hardly ever happens, but it's always appreciated when it does!
If you have something to say but don't want to say it publicly (or register for the board), you can also email me direct at CRZ.DVD@gmail.com!
It's Leap Day - have you taken your FLYING LEAP yet?
PICK OF THE WEEK: The Pink Panther Classic Cartoon Collection, Vol. 6 - Inspector Cartoons (The W at Amazon) (1965-7) 17 shorts - The Inspector never COULD get Sgt. Deux-Deux to say "Oui" instead of "Si" - I had no idea until just now that Pat "Schneider" Harrington did the voices of both men! Thanks, Internet!

| #2 Posted on 29.2.08 1911.57 | Instant Rating: 7.82 | Whew, I am glad I qualified for that free pass! I thought it was fair, not great, and I've definitely seen worse. Hoffman and Natalie Portman were bland and there for the check at best, but I enjoyed Jason Bateman as The Accountant. My daughter really liked it, but she likes Zoey 101, so you can take that with as much salt as you wish.
I also caught The Kill Point, which I guess was on FX last summer, and thought it was really good. Leguizamo is an ex-Marine (pretty sure he was Marines, not Army) sargeant who along with a good portion of his former platoon in Afghanistan, robs a bank. Mark Donnie Wahlberg is the negotiator, who also doubles as a good-grammar policeman for some levity. Its over 5 hours in total, but I really enjoyed it.
Although I'm not a huge Hayden Christianson fan, I enjoyed Awake also. Terrance Howard just plain rules...to me, he's the next Kevin Bacon where he's in almost everything and always really, really good in it, too.
