Holy shit, you might as well give Bryan Cranston the Best Actor Emmy right now (never thought I'd say THAT). He was MAGNIFICENT in the pilot of AMC's "Breaking Bad" tonight, which itself was an awesome show.
I guess my critique was that I was hoping to see more of Walt in the classroom, as I think him being a chemistry teacher AND a meth maker could make for some good storytelling and juxtaposition down the road.
Otherwise, Cranston seemed the perfcet guy to play this role because he really does look the part of your average weak-willed chemistry teacher. Great episode, and I'm looking forward to next week's already.
I agree with StaggerLee, this show is probably my favorite on tv right now. The wife and I have been catching the replays with On Demand so I'm a week behind. We just watched the intervention episode and were both amazed at how good of an actor Cranston is.
Jackson mentioned only having seven episodes, is that because of the strike or was that planned?
Actually, I did hear that story. Another thing I'll offer, to be fair: maybe the creator had to sell it as a soap opera but had every intention of making it a more critical and satirical show once he got it on the air... then ratings got in the way.
