Lackluster as this (half a) season of Heroes was, I generally found this finale to be more entertaining than last year's.

The LOL moment was when Sylar shot Maya. I mean, I was practically ROTFL. The moment was ruined of course when they brought her back immediately with Claire's magic "healing blood", but for a few seconds, I thought it was a hilarious fuck you to the last Wonder Twin standing and a more vicious do-away-with than Nikki and Paulo got on Lost. But alas, Maya lives. She might turn out to be a decent character one day if she stops being a dope. But then, I could say the same for nearly the entire Heroes roster.

The other LOL moment was poor Nathan Petrelli having to fly fat Parkman on his back all the way to Texas. Yes, let's never speak of that again.

I also liked Claire's kiss off to West. "Here's your file." OOOH! DUMPED! So long, flyboy. Don't let a tree branch hit your ass on the up, up and away.

How the HELL did Elle get from LA to NY so fast? I want to see these Company jets one day, damn it.

It was neat seeing him cut loose but it highlighted the fact that Peter is way too powerful. And way too much of a gullible dope to be so powerful. So what happened to Caitlin in the future? If he prevented the virus future from happening, is Caitlin dead?

Hiro buring Adam alive was cold. I didn't think he had it in him.

Of course, the old Sylar's back. All you Sylar boosters, take note: You want evil? The black dude who kidnapped Monica and then tried to set her on fire was EVIL. Setting the comic book on fire was mean, man. The pistol whipping he took from Niki was amusing.

Homer Simpson: Mmm, pistol whip.

Alas, Niki Sanders we hardly knew ye. Actually we knew ye very well, a couple of ye's, and we never liked any of ye very much.

What a cliff hanger: Who shot Nathan Petrelli?! Oh, it was the Company.

See you in '08. Sometime.

It certainly had a very rushed feel. So many closures in the last 10-15 minutes, but none overwhelmingly satisfying.

Hopefully once the writers' strike is over, they can all take a breath, and take their time writing Volume III.

Elle was at the company HQ in New York so it was less fast jet and more fast subway. Overall I enjoyed the episode pretty well. The only thing that I can think of off the top of my head that would have made it better was if Micah, Monica, creepy Star Trek granny, and the little wrestling fan had all been blown up with Niki so we could be rid of the entire boring as hell storyline.

This is one of the few shows I'll actually miss if the writers strike goes on for an extended period.

Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you...

OK, from what I remember reading, there would be three apparent deaths in this episode (which there were - Adam, Niki, and Nathan). One would not be received well by the fanbase, while the other two would be tolerable if not acceptable (which fits the three that we got).

The key part to what I read? One of these deaths would stick. One would certainly be a red herring. And the third would be an unknown outcome for a while.

Since Volume 3 is going to be "Villains", one would assume that Adam's "death" (being buried alive by Hiro in the same cemetery as Kaito) is the red herring, with a partnership between Adam & the newly-repowered Sylar on the horizon (assuming, of course, that Sylar resists the temptation for BRAAAAAINS and lets Adam live). Meaning that either Nathan or Niki definitely bit the dust for real while the other one might. You'd think the obvious conclusion would be that Niki's dead and Nathan's hanging in the balance, since Peter's RIGHT THERE to give Nathan blood again, but that phone conversation their bitch of a mother had at the end (I cannot WAIT for Angela to bite it; she annoys the crap out of me to no end) hints at a swerve.

Other than that mystery... the only thing I'm wondering is if Sylar still got Candice's power. You'd think not, since whatever was done to him to make him powerless in the first place probably robbed him of his original power (the intuition) that he used to make power theft possible in the first place.

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

I think it was actually Maya, and not Adam, as the fake out.

Yeah, Adam is not dead, nor can he be. He's definitely out of the picture for good though, since nobody knows where to look for him. (Unless someone with super hearing were to hear his shouting, assuming he kept it up forever, yadda, yadda, yadda...) If somebody did find him, I have to think Adam would be totally batshit crazy insane by that point. Overall, Hiro found the one thing worse than death for Adam, and I loved it. THAT was the big LOL moment for me.

When Sylar shot Maya, I did chuckle though - wasn't expecting that. When Mohinder went to test Sylar's blood, Mrs. whatever asked, "Why didn't he just inject Sylar with something to kill him when he was asking for it right away?" "Because Mohinder is an idiot," I replied.

Peter and Nathan had the relationship where they kept each other in line. Peter helped redeem Nathan thru season 1, and Nathan returned the favor this year. Now that Peter is so powerful (and gullible as noted above), who will help keep him in check now that Nathan is gone?

DING DONG NIKI'S DEAD!

Yes, but I can't help but think Sylar would have to be *looking* for him. In Japan. Near the cemetary. When Adam happens to be yelling. Hiro is the only person who knows where Adam is, and he isn't talking.

It'd be really neat if Hiro stuck him in a different time to boot.

Burying him in the future would be ideal.

Poor Caitlin. Even if you apply Doc Brown's Theory of the space/time continuum and everything righted itself around her, she's still stuck in New York a year from now with no paperwork.

I still have a problem with how fast people get around. Even if Elle was in New York, that doesn't explain how Bob and Noah got to California so fast. The company must have a teleporter like Hiro that we've just never seen before. Yeah, that's it.

My only other nitpick was that Peter forgot he has DL's powers (as evidenced earlier in the season when he phased through his bonds in Ireland), so he could have saved himself a ton of effort getting through the vault door. But then Adam would have won, so it all worked out. Yay!

Complaints aside, it was a pretty good ending to a shaky start, and actually left me upset that the writers' strike hasn't been resolved yet.

Unless starvation can weaken Adam, I don't see why he can't claw his way out. In other media, we've seen Buffy and The Bride manage to pull it off, and Buffy's regenerative power is nowhere near as capable as Adam's. Hell, from what we've seen of Claire's toe, if Adam could chew off a finger, he can eat the meat for nourishment while fashioning the bone into a pick, and he still won't look the worse for wear.

I'm mildly disappointed that Sylar's back. I feel like he's a bit of a retread. I look forward to more villains next year.

I liked how Maya's "death" was just technically a death that, during the end, I kept thinking, "Who's the other hero to fall?" even after they resurrected her. (The promo never said the hero wouldn't get right back up.) Once Nathan was all "we go public," I was totally expecting that ending. Although I didn't expect the postscript with his mom on the phone.

I would have liked to see how Hiro got Adam into the casket. Adam had the sword at Hiro's throat, surely he could have killed him. I love how when heroes are betrayed by friends, they never have the strength to kill them, so they subject them to something far worse. That said though, as mentioned above, I expect Adam to get out. Adam's relative disinterest in Hiro seemed out of place, though, but I guess if he tried to kill him while he was unconscious, that might have aroused Peter's suspicions.

Niki's death was amazingly convenient since surely the fire destroyed not only her but the virus inside her as well. Her death by fire was also a nice callback to DL's escapades.

I wonder how this Volume (season?) will play on DVD. It opened slow, but then it got going. I look forward to its eventual return.

You believe me, don't you?
Please believe what I just said...

I figured that 400 years of not having to deal with Hiro but seeing the crap in the world around him made him not care so much anymore about the geeky kid.
Hell, he was even pretty nice to him, telling him he helped him be a hero at first.

Hiro however, figures that the death of his dad is a direct result of Adams'hatred, because to him it all happened just a few days ago.

As for how he got him in the casket?
Teleport to another place, freeze time, remove sword, teleport to cemetary, place Adam in casket at sword point (aimed at the head of course)

I kind of agree with you. I mean, Sylar's just too powerful. He becomes a very immediate threat with all his powers, and it's hard to do long-term stuff with him besides "he's coming to get you." That's why Peter works so much better, because he's a gullible idiot. If he was competent, who could ever stop him? I much preferred watching Sylar play the manipulator this season, even if that plot line really wound up going nowhere.

I have to say, I'm a little ticked that nothing ever came out of Syler stealing Claire's car.

Aw, you're right. I hope Elle finds it right outside the building and takes it as another way to say suck it to Claire.

Nathan can't go out like that; it would be the second time they undid a potential huge heroic sacrifice death from last year's finale only to have the guy get shot like a chump during way lower stakes circumstances.

Milo Ventimiglia says he has no clues about fate of characters on NBC's 'Heroes'

The Associated Press
Thursday, December 6, 2007

NEW YORK: Milo Ventimiglia once again saved the world on NBC's "Heroes." Now what?

"It's funny how that always falls on my shoulders," Ventimiglia says.

In the second season finale, Ventimiglia's character, Peter Petrelli, destroyed a virus capable of annihilating most of mankind while Nathan Petrelli, Peter's high-flying brother, appeared to be assassinated at a press conference.

Ventimiglia isn't sure if Nathan (played by Adrian Pasdar) is dead.

"I really hope he's not going anywhere," Ventimiglia told The Associated Press during a telephone interview Wednesday. "That would be really disappointing to me to lose a brother and an amazing scene partner. I'm sure it's all going to work out the way it's supposed to."

Ventimiglia says he didn't watch the finale.

He wasn't alone. Ratings for Monday's episode were down from the previous week, and the conclusion of Volume Two was the lowest-rated finale episode for the show yet, according to Nielsen Media Research.

The second season of "Heroes" was cut short after the Writers Guild of America went on strike.

Ventimiglia says he's seen no scripts and has no clues about what will happen when the show returns.

"We ran out of stuff to shoot," he said. "That's basically what it boils down to."

That spells trouble. I'd pretty much cancel the show right away what with this being the lowest rated Heroes finale EVER.

Yeah, that line caught my eye too ... How many years does this writer think that Heroes has been on the air?
