One of my favorite shows from last year, Dexter, made its return to Showtime this week.

The new season looks like it's going to focus on finding just who was dumping those bodies in the ocean. Oh yeah, that's right. It was Dexter. I loved how they showed the ocean floor and all those bags. Dexter's pretty efficient!

Looks like Rita's upset with Dexter for getting Paul killed. Do you think he's really dead though? We didn't see it happen, so I'm wary.

I'm excited. Who's with me?

PS-What happend to the Dexter icon?

I have seen this one and the 2nd episode already, and loved them. I liked the first season, but they have really cranked up the tension by applying pressure to Dexter. I always thought what made this show unique (having a villain as the lead) also worked against it, as some people couldn't get into it for that reason. Now, you can choose to root against Dexter if you want to, because his fat is really in the fire this season.

Really? Then how do you explain peoples love for THE SOPRANOS? Even the 'good guy' cops on the show were assholes.

I figured this show was ignored because it's on Showtime.

I saw ep. 1 On Demand and thought it was agreat way to start the season. Somehow, I must have missed ANY promos for this show. Weird.

I really like Dexter and loook forward to this season.

I don't want to ruin what happens at the end of the 2nd episode (it was leaked to the internets months ago), but yeah Dexter is in for it now. He thought he could be done with Rita so he could focus on figuring out how to deal with everything going on, but his way out backfires huge and it's amazing...

I love Doakes character and it's great how he's Dexter's shadow from the beginning of the second season. His sister is living in his apt. now too which makes sneaking around late at night even more difficult too, awesome! I can't help but feel with all these different story arcs starting up so fast that the show is going to run out of ideas too soon and jump the proverbial shark, but I'll just enjoy the ride while it lasts!

Also, has anyone read any of the Dexter books? I bought the first one after seeing the entire first season, and didn't know what make of it. I liked some of the differences, but man his the climax with his brother, Rudy, just so bizarre...

The books aren't as interesting as the TV show. The producers have assured us that the TV production will not follow the second novel and this is a good thing. The books are "pulp" and so you get what pay for, but in this case what you pay for is repetitive and cheesy.

Showtime kept what is best about the character -- sociopathic amorality, an ironic sensibility, a desire to fit in -- but jettisoned the author's rather lazy plot lines.

I'm glad the producers/writers didn't adhere to the first novel's ending and are steering clear of the author's further imaginations. The series (so far)outshines the books, so kudos to Showtime for re-imagining the story.

Well, there are some differences between a mob boss, and a serial killer.

I don't think the writers are trying to get you to root for the bad guy like they did on the Sopranos. However, many people I know disliked the Sopranos because they couldn't see why they should root for, or care about, a bunch of mobsters.

Tony was also portrayed a man who truly loved his family, Dexter has yet to show genuine love or concern for anyone. His entire character revolves around his lack of emotions.

I can second the opinion that at least the first book is nowhere near as good as the show. I'm not much of a writing critic, but goddamn that was boring. It might have been better if the whole concept was new to me since I had already seen the first season, but I doubt it. I'm glad I did watch the show first because otherwise I might not have bothered.

It's been weeks since I've had my Bob's Burgers fix. It might not have packed the same kind of punch that the last few episodes did, but this was still good stuff.
