It really seemed (at the time) like heavily scripted commentary after a worked spot to explain an upcoming (previously scheduled) surgery. But that's mostly speculation on my part as an "educated" viewer. I think the fact that Candace wasn't bleeding all over the place, combined with JR and King saying "broken nose!" enough times to make it totally suspicious was what tipped it in the "work" direction for me.

Well, following the footnote, Wikipedia's "source" is a wwe.com blog entry from Candace (or her ghost writer) which really needs to be taken with an appropriate amount of salt. ;-)
I'm not saying I'm absolutely 100% sure I'm right on this, but I don't want anybody else to come away with the impression that they can place their faith in the fact that they should be certain about what MIGHT just be kayfabe/misinformation. (That's probably needlessly wordy - read it again, it'll hopefully make sense)
I just get alarms going off when people post with certainty when I'm thinking "wait, that's not right, and I think you're spreading lies, and I have to STOP THIS." Nothing personal, just a bug up my ass so reflexively I have to CLENCH.
