The web is buzzing with the story of a huge international illicit steroid bust - I thought this Canadian Press account was interesting
http://canadianpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5ikdOIrZelpA16Eu6L9-hQbi28eIQ

They note that in Connecticut, over 500 Lbs of raw steroid powder was seized by an illegal distributer. That's close to Stamford.

Many of the stories, mention Benoit and some Bonds

a complete account from the dea

This is going to connect up, I wager

You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week.

"The Mexican rebels aren't running it back for touchdowns, so it's close." (thecubsfan)

Point of order: while Stamford's in CT, it's way the hell in the southwest corner, and might as well be a suburb of New York City. For all we know, this bust could've been in, say, Mansfield (well, what else is there, besides cows and UConn?).

But as for the whole Benoit/Bonds thing, that's just because they've been in the news and connected with steroids. Easy filler. Who knows how many of the customers were athletes or wrestlers.

EDIT: Know Your Connecticut Geography time! The indictment doesn't list the defendants, so who knows where they were. They announced it in Hartford, which is nowhere near Stamford, but also means nothing. HOWEVER:

This story (boston.com) mentions an Alan Blair who pled guilty to selling HGH. He lives in Wilton, which isn't far from Stamford at all... if the guy's number isn't unlisted, it's only half an hour from WWE headquarters to there, taking a lot of back roads. So it's certainly plausible. But again, we can't really conclude anything from that or any of the busts, unless they release a list of customers for the CT raids.

I think we may be beyond the point of conspiracy theories, as it's not really a mystery of the WWE wrestlers on something, but when are we going to find out it was HHH and Cena, just for the old kick in the balls. And all of the other names in sports, of course. But H and Cena, for our world

And just as a matter of geography reference, according to Yahoo Maps, Mansfield is about 80 miles, Hartford is around 100 and Wilton 15 (or 30 minutes drive time) from Stamford

It's a long way from Atlanta to Orlando. Or Tampa. Tampa *to* Orlando is 90 miles of brutality and rage. I'm just saying that a whole bunch of wrestlers may have made drives like these for less.

Demonstrations are a drag. Besides, we're much too high

I'm waiting for it to be Vince. And, if you really want a kick in the balls, Foley's name would break the Shock-Meter more than any other.

I know you can't go broke under-estimating the intelligence of the WWE wrestlers, but I would hope that they're not buying them right by Titan Towers (especially after Vince's trial in '94).

You're being sarcastic, right? Intellegence has nothing to do with any of this. Wanting to succeed at all costs and not being able to look beyond the immediate benefit are what is in play. And does anyone think this will do more than slow this down momentarily. Look how successful the war on drugs has been.
