Here we go...

Divas Battle Royal, Winner Becomes #1 Contender: I'll say Michelle McCool, as that will give WWE an excuse to move her to RAW, since she's getting a nice push on Smackdown with nowhere to go because there's no belt.

Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero: Rey wins, but Chavo gets even post-match.

Triple H vs. King Booker: You kidding? Triple H.

Umaga vs. Mr. Kennedy vs. Carlito, I.C. Title Match: Kennedy wins, as they seem to not know what to do with Umaga.

John Morrison vs. CM Punk, ECW Title Match: When do they pull the trigger with Punk? I'll say at SummerSlam.

Great Khali vs. Batista, World Heavyweight Title Match: If Khali doesn't drop the belt to Batista, who does he drop it to? Batista wins.

John Cena vs. Randy Orton, WWE Championship Match: Orton got the best of Cena on RAW, so Cena wins at SS.

EDIT, just added tonight on Smackdown:

Kane vs. Finlay: Finlay- gotta have a challenger for Batista ready. Unless they want to turn Kane again.

HHH over King Booker
Rey over Chavo
MVP over Hardy
Women's battle royal, uh....let's say, Michelle McCool?
Kennedy over Carlito and Umaga
Punk over Morrison
Batista over Khali
Cena over Orton

You know, I look at this picks again and think would WWE really have all three world title matches end with a face victory? If anyone gets hosed of the three, it'll be Punk. Batista HAS to win or else he looks like a loser for not being able to beat Khali, Edge or Undertaker for the belt in the last six months.

Divas battle royal: I'd like to see Victoria win and beat Candice for the belt so she can add the title to her feud with Michelle. But that's probably a little too complex for the usual women's division booking. So Melina wins and feuds with Candice.

Rey v. Chavo: Rey. Not much to say about this one.

Trips v. Booker: Trips is a mortal lock. The only question is whether it'll be a real match or "punch punch high knee facebuster spinebuster Pedigree good night Irene."

Hardy v. MVP: After being punked out in the Masterlock Challenge and clobbered by Evander Holyfield, Matt needs to come back with a win here.

Kennedy v. Carlito v. Umaga: Kennedy is the most likely choice -- Umaga doesn't need the belt and Carlito is the least over of the three.

Khali v. Batista: Something tells me they're not going to blow this one off early. So: Batista by DQ when Khali refuses to release THE CLAW.

Orton v. Cena: Orton.

Morrison v. Punk: Don't watch ECW, no opinion.

HHH will win but Booker gives him a beatdown afterwards. Just too much hype to end this one after one match. But see the Orton-Cena match for another scenario.

McCool wins.. then wins championship later but remains on Smackdown. The only reason for a women's division at all is to appease the mainstream media with the girls.

Batistia wins.... Khali is only holding the belt temporary.

Cena vs Orton - I'm going against the odds and picking Orton. If HHH cleanly beats Booker, HHH will assist Orton in the win to set up a heated fued with Cena.

ECW - who cares, almost all the wrestlers look the same (except for Mabel and Boogeyman). John Morrison wins.

Hardy vs MVP - MVP wins. I hope MVP wins, nice to see fresher faces. Did anyone notice how much shorter Hardy was than Holyfield although both are listed at 6'2 ???

Kennedy, Carlito, Umaga - The big man is the best wrestler of the three but the worst wrestler, Kennedy, will win. Umaga will end up being someone's enforcer down the road.

Rey vs Chavo - this is another one that can't end at Summerslam. Rey wins then gets a beatdown.

Who will be revealed as McMahon's son? All the sites are saying Kennedy.... which means it will be someone else.

Divas Battle Royal: What the hell is everyone talking about Michelle McCool for? The Women's Title isn't going to Smackdown or coming off Candice for a while. The company seems very intent on the Candice-can-wrestle experiment and she's not doing badly. Plus, they already set up "glamazon" Beth Phoenix on RAW. Phoenix gets the shot at Candice.

ECW World Title: John Morrison is another company experiment whereas CM Punk seems like a stone in Vince McMahon's shoe. Punk SHOULD win to get some needed credibility for himself and the ECW Title. I'll believe it when I see it. Morrison retains.

MVP vs. Matt Hardy: MVP has a heart condition. Hardy finally wins a singles heavyweight title. I'm dreading his MySpace blog about it, I'll tell you that much.

Intercontinetal Title Triple Threat: Both Kennedy and Carlito need that belt more than Youmanga. The reason to book such a match is to get the belt off the invicible babyface without him actually losing. I say Kennedy wins the IC strap.

Rey vs. Chavo. Any outcome other than Rey winning his comeback match is insanity.

King Booker vs. King of Kings: See above.

World Title match: Batista, like Punk, needs to win. I need to see that belt off of Khali for my own sanity. I hope Batista wins. I think Khali will retain. Because Vince hates me.

WWE Title match: I had hope Orton would end the John Cena stranglehold on the WWE Title, but given how strongly he's laid out Cena this week, booking 101 says Cena avenges all that and retains. Another FU from Cena to me.

Divas Battle Royal
I'll go with Melina, who seems to be getting a little more airtime again. She shouldn't have lost the belt in the first place.
WINNER: Melina

Rey Mysterio v. Chavo Guerrero
Rey wins this one clean, to put this feud to rest before it goes on for another couple of months. Both guys hopefully move on to better things.
WINNER: Rey Rey

CM Punk v. John Morrison
I stand by my comments from a few weeks ago. If Punk loses, you might as well rename him Lex Luger.
WINNER: CM Punk

Triple H v. King Booker
Triple H wins, only because you can't job the returning star. But Booker's put in such a great performance throughout this whole angle, that he'll probably beat Cena at the next PPV and these two will get a rematch for higher stakes down the line.
WINNER: Triple H

Umaga v. Mr. Kennedy v. Carlito
Umaga spikes Carlito, but Kennedy steals the pin and the title.
WINNER: Kennedy

Great Khali v. Batista
The Great Khali's reign needs a mercy killing in the worst way. Batista's been plugged into title programs with Undertaker and Edge as the challenger and come up short every time. Also in danger of turning into Lex Luger v.2, Batista needs the win.
WINNER: Batista

John Cena v. Randy Orton
Less than six months ago, Randy Orton's name was smack dab in the middle of a steroids scandal. Less than six months ago, Randy Orton got sent home for trashing a European hotel room and generally making a nuisance of himself. This was LESS THAN SIX MONTHS AGO! With all that staring them right in the face, they wouldn't put their top belt on Orton, would they? Considering Orton's name WAS in the middle of that steroids scandal less than six months ago and after everything that's happened this summer surrounding steroids, giving Orton the title could be a PR nightmare. Would they REALLY put themselves in that position? Survey says...
WINNER: John Cena

Winners:

Melina- I guess.

Rey - No brainer.

Morrison - Punk doesn't have "the look", John does.

Hardy - has this been announced?

HHH - I would love for Booker to win, but there is no way in Hell. And storyline wise, HHH should win anyway.

Kennedy - and he will be revealed as Vince's kid. I really don't see anyone else that would make sense.

Batista - or else his career is in trouble. Regardless, they need to stop the bleeding of Khali's title reign.

Cena - toughest to call, but I agree that they don't risk putting the belt on Orton, even to feud with HHH.

Ladies and gentlemen, the following public service message is brought to you by your friends from D-Generation X, who would like to remind each and every one of you that if you're not down with that, we've got two words for you...

For their own good, this needs to be a babyface-victory-heavy show. And not just because I'll be there in person, LOL.

Let's throw Triple H & Rey Mysterio out there as automatic wins for the simple Booking 101 maxim of "Thou shalt not job in thine major return match." Although there would be something to gain by Booker going over Trips - though if you think I'm picking that way, you're nuts. (And there's no reason for Chavo to beat Rey.)

CM Punk must win the ECW title. No ifs, ands, or buts - the very solvency of the ECW brand depends on it. There is no one else believeable for Morrison to feud with. (And if you say Stevie Richards, I'll look at you like you're crazy.) There are many potential feuds with Punk as champion. Punk would be irrecovably stuck with the Lex Luger choker label if Morrison beats him for a third straight PPV. Punk is extremely marketable in the current climate (with Congress breathing down Vince's neck over steroids) due to his straight-edge lifestyle. Too many good reasons for Punk to win, and not a single even-decent one for him to lose.

Over on Smackdown, while I despise the Great Khali as champion, the situation is not nearly as dire since Undertaker is due back next month (defying all sensible expectations in the process). Still, I'm going to pick Batista because he deserves it for being a professional after months of non-stop PPV jobs, and yes, because Khali still sucks that much and doesn't deserve it. The upper card of that brand has really rested on his shoulders due to all the injuries, and hopefully they give him a reward... though I have the DQ finish doubt in the back of my mind.

As for RAW, I'll take John Cena over Randy Orton, just for common sense's sake. With Orton, you're talking about a guy who as It's False said was this close to being fired not even six months ago (it's more like four) for repeated transgressions including trashing a hotel room, Wellness violations (never mind the steroid allegations, he already has two failed tests on the books, I believe), bouts of insubordination, and all-around general douche-baggery. As much as I would hate to see Trips turn heel, take the belt on Cena and go on another marathon run with it, it would be preferable to Randall Q. Dumbfuck getting the belt at this point in his career.

MVP/Matt Hardy is a coin flip. On the one hand, the booking dictates an MVP win since Matt's consistently gotten the better of MVP in the buildup. On the other hand, MVP's got that heart issue that the Wellness tests discovered, though we really don't know how serious it is at this point. My heart says Matt wins it, but with so many babyface wins already I'll go with my brain and MVP retaining via another screwjob.

There's a lot of different ways they could go with the IC title three-way. I think the booking for this and the McMahon angle are tied to one another. If they follow through with the original plan and reveal Kennedy as Vince's son, then he doesn't need to go over in this match. The heat he'll get via Vince will be more than enough to carry him up the card and put him in WWE title matches by the winter. If that's the case, then you keep the belt on Umaga here and then feed one monster to another and put Snitsky over Umaga for the title later. If plans have changed, then you need to put the title on Kennedy here to keep him positioned as one of the top guys and while you have the chance to get the belt off Umaga without him taking a fall. I haven't decided firmly which way they'll go, but as of now I'm leaning towards Scenario 1 and an Umaga win here. Either way, poor Carlito will be the one doing the job.

Divas? Snooze. I expect a heel to win and I expect it'll be Jillian Hall, since it's her turn and all and she's easily been the most visible heel Diva on RAW lately. If they want to move Michelle over they can always do one of those phantom "contract expired" deals with her.

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.

Diva Battle Royal: It has no real consequences, it's a fluff match and a battle royal-- I honestly don't care.

Rey vs. Chavo: Rey wins, but Chavo not only gets even, he goes after that knee. At least until someone comes to rescue Rey, and it ultimately evolves into a tag-team war.

Triple H vs. King Booker: Triple H not only wins, he buries Booker, just like he did at WM19.

Intercontinental Title-- Umaga (C) vs. Kennedy vs. Carlito: Umaga retains after Kennedy and Carlito, who do a good job double-teaming him throughout the match, can't agree on who'll get the pinfall. That usually spells a win by the face in these so-called "for-all-intents-and-purposes handicap" matches.

There seems to a be a common theme in the thread; people are picking the most logical winners of these matches but actually expecting WWE to utilize common sense. Shouldn't we all know better by now?

ECW Title-- John Morrison (C) vs. CM Punk: OK, here I agree with the masses and say, "Pull the freakin' trigger on Punk's long-awaited ECW Title win for crying out loud!" I figure they've been saving it for one of the Big PPV Extravaganzas.

WWE Title-- John Cena (C) vs. Randy Orton: Just to annoy me, Cena's irritating title reign ends at the hands of someone I dislike seeing on my television even more than Cena. Yay.

World Heavyweight Title-- The Great Khali (C) vs. Batista: The common theme since Batista's return to injury has been to say to the World Champion, "That belt you're holding, it belongs to me and I want it back."

Here are the facts: Batista failed to beat Booker for the title at SummerSlam '06. He probably had one or two opportunities to win it on free TV before his next PPV opportunity. Booker pinned Finlay to retain the title at No Mercy '06 in a four-way match (also involving Lashley and Booker) when Finlay was hit with the Batista Bomb. "Funga, foiled again!"

I don't remember if Batista was injured around Cyber Sunday but I can't help but notice that since Booker was involved in the Champion of Champions match, Batista wasn't on the card because WWE probably couldn't think of anything else for him to do but challenging for the World Title.

Finally, in a Last Chance match, as if Batista had done anything to keep earning those opportunities, Batista beat Booker for the title at Survivor Series '06. Batista got to humiliate Booker again by pinning him at Armageddon in a match that was Batista/Cena vs. Booker/Finlay.

Batista retained against Mr. Kennedy, which I think was a mistake because as good as the WM23 title match would turn out to be, I think Kennedy would have been a better-- and a heel-- opponent for Undertaker, and would have sold being scared a lot better.

Batista then inexplicably turned on 'Taker in their Batista/Taker v. Cena/HBK match at No Way Out '07, for no other reason than that Taker and Batista were opponents at WM23. As if HBK and Cena didn't seriously doubt each other's motivations.

Batista lost the World Title to Undertaker at WM23, immediately came out on SmackDown and said, "Congratulations, I want a rematch", and then spent the next month chasing 'Taker's title (including a loss at Backlash and I think another SmackDown), losing his last opportunity after the cage-match draw and then having it yoinked away by Edge when he cashed in the Money in the Bank.

Batista spent the next two months chasing Edge (losing at Judgment Day, One Night Stand and his Last Chance match at Vengeance), and ironically was going to have his first PPV match in a looong time that didn't even involve the World Title until Edge got injured and the Edge/Kane main event became Khali/Batista/Kane when Khali won the title in the battle royal.

Khali dominated both Batista and Kane at the Great American Bash.

WWE needs to make a choice: Either they give Batista the win and build him back up as a credible threat (why is every champion booked to make it look like he's dodging Batista when Batista can hardly ever win the big one, anyway?), or stop booking Batista as the petulant child who can't accept that someone else has "his" World Title and keeps challenging the champion and losing constantly (and he had a great first reign), or they need to stop booking him as a main-eventer period. Because this has been a problem in WWE for about a year now.

I'd actually forgotten about the first thing-- point well taken. On the second thing, bah, loss, tie, the bottom line is he failed to capture the World Title, and that's what I'm getting at.

And you might be right about Cena/Orton-- but I'd never admit it.

- Diva Battle Royal: They're building up Beth Phoenix, which is a good idea. A feud between her and Mickie James could be a good one. So she wins, eliminating Melina last when Melina thinks they are friends.

- John Morrison vs. CM Luger: Not sure whose contract expires first, but I expect to see Punk vs. Joe IV at an ROH card sometime in 2008. Morrison retains.

- MVP vs. Matt Hardy: Matt Hardy loses. That's what Matt Hardy does. Matt Hardy's existence is predicated on jobbing.

- Umaga vs. Kennedy vs. Carlito: Anyone of these guys could win, but I think this is the beginning of the Kennedy push on Raw. Umaga hits the spike on Carlito while the ref is out, Kennedy blasts him with a chair/mic/belt and gets the pin when the ref revives.

- Khali vs. Batista: I don't know who wins, but I know we all lose. I'll say Khali gets DQ'ed so the feud continues.

- Rey vs. Chavo: Rey returns and wins in about 9 minutes. Eddie's name is invoked multiple times.

- HHH vs. King Booker: Yeah, this one's hard to call. HHH still ain't losing to one of "those people."

- Cena vs. Orton: I know supposedly Cena should be dropping the belt here, but I don't buy it. WM 24 is going to be HHH vs. Cena, so I can't see them giving Orton the belt, then having him drop it quickly enough to build Cena back up as dominant enough to make HHH's win at WM worthwhile. Only question to me is does HHH want to go into WM as a face or heel. If its the former, perhaps we start to see some heelish work from Cena (as Orton has been hearing some crowd support at times) to lay the foundation for that. Cena retains.

What's the over/under on Helmsley getting injured during the match?

I'm sure somewhere, someone at Titan Towers are saying that the live fans will be the winners of the Diva Battle Royal.

I don't think ECW's ready for a good guy champ. Morrison should retain just to give ECW fans a reason to keep watching.

Matt Hardy's been on a roll so he's just gotta lose at the big PPV, right?

Khali Vs. Batista... does nothing for me, Either guy could win and they'll just be a place holder for the Undertaker's belt.

Umaga's useless now that they killed off his character and Carlito isn't ready

Rey wins, but Chavo deserves it more.

Randy Orton should win. Rating go up when the good guy is chasing the belt so they should give it to Orton for a while.

As for the McMahon offspring... I don't think this angle is gonna be used to build up another wrestler. I think it's just a reason to get Vince out of the picture again for a while. Here's my theory...

Davari is Vince's son. It turns out Vince is somehow tied into some overseas terrorists, you know, because of Davari, and this gives the fans more reason to hate him. This will lead to Vince getting 'killed off' again.

...call me crazy. I don't fucking know.

I completely believe Cena needs to go heel here so we can have a different dimension to the HHH/Cena match at WM24. Honestly, it worked for Austin/Rock so I can't say why it wouldn't here either.

I really don't get this. Batista's been injured once during his stay in the main event, and since coming back from injury he's stayed healthy whilst everyone around him hits the deck. Batista's less injury-prone than Edge, HBK, HHH, even Taker, but he's the only guy who has this reputation. Stick the belt on him - he deserves it after doing every job ever asked of him, and after having good matches all year long.

ANd I don't think Hardy/MVP is happening on Sunday.

To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow
