Hello.
Due to the Independence Day holiday inconveniently falling on a Wednesday, all the major American distributors have figured that nobody's really interested in buying any new DVDs on Tuesday. Thus, we have another slew of Televista releases (they're Italian, they don't know any better) and....well, nothing really. We'll be done before you know it!
Actually, we have 164 releases, including four HD DVDs and three Blu-Ray (anybody bought the new format yet?), 24 pairings of movies that have been out forever (and probably aren't that good a deal), and...oh, let's just get to the list already.
For those of you who haven't endured one of these lists before, it works thusly:
Hovering over links should provide you with Amazon's current price.
CLICKING on those links will take you to the Amazon shopping cart with a friendly referral from The W - consider making your purchase through us and it'll place a few coins in our tip jar!
Because Amazon sometimes can't come correct with the information, you will see some exposition from me (or, more likely, a bad joke) in addition to the listing along with IMDb icons (which can be clicked to take you to a movie's IMDb listing) or tv.com icons (which can be clicked to take you to the relevant episode list from tv.com)
All links should open in new windows so you can come right back here after your research! (If you want - we're totally flexible about that!)
Please tell a friend (or vote 'em up Digg/Netscape/&c. with a click of the icon of your choice at the bottom) about this post because it takes me a long time and I'm a big fan of more eyeballs!
Please feel free to add a reply and share your two cents about any of the listings you see here - show off your impressive knowledge, share your opinion about something you've seen, something you're looking forward to seeing, or make your own crappy jokes which are better than mine!
We also hope that if you buy something, you come back and tell us what you thought about it!
If you have something to say but don't want to say it publicly (or register for the board), you can also email me direct at CRZ.DVD@gmail.com!

I WILL be back in this thread on Monday with a Top 24 that will end up representing almost 1/7th of this list - who KNOWS what amongst these will sell - well, you could go get an early check right now, I suppose. Just come back Monday.
Oh HEY maybe YOU'VE seen something on this list - it's obvious I sure haven't - so go ahead and post a reply!
I am buying Blu-Rays and watching them on my PS3 in 1080p.
I have Talladega Nights (came with the PS3), Pirates 1 and 2, Ghost Rider, Fantastic Four, and Eragon on Blu-Ray. They all look stunning in HD.
I've seen The Fifth Element and Underworld Evolution on Blu-Ray on my HD setup and the transfers were CRAP. It didn't look better than my DVDs in 480p being upscaled on my TV. Lots of artifacts everywhere. It was pretty distracting.
I can see why they're re-mastering The Fifth Element and I'll probably get the new version when it comes out.
DREAM A LITTLE DREAM 2 was NOT direct to video. I remember seeing it in a theater and wondering why Jason Robards wasn't in it.
EUREKA is an awesome show, everyone should watch it.
...oh yeah, and out of ALL the movies that have EVER been made, why the fuck is FLATLINERS getting released on BluRay? Seriously, was someone just really fucked up on drugs and said "Hey! Lets put out FLATLINERS! That should sell like hotcakes."

Quite possibly the worst cartoon in the history of mankind, you can see these on Boomerang on occasion.
Worse than Mighty Man and Yuk, worse than the Cattanooga Cats.

Preface: I saw this late night on Saturday after seeing Maleficent. I expected really good things, but didn't really get any. I'm little grouchy over the experience. I'm glad I saw this movie...now I know that I should NOT live in the West in 1882.
