No surprises about those leaving- Mark Valley, Julie Bowen, Rene Auberjonois, and Constance Zimmer (no link- read it on boston-legal.org, the best BL site I've seen out there). Valley has been under-utilized through the entire run (was he even in court once this year?), and at least one TV Guide reader agrees with me (his lack of screen time got a "jeer" this week). I'm assuming he and Bowen's characters will go live happily ever after now. Rene has only been around for reaction shots, and I liked Zimmer as she was not your stereotypical BL gal, which was nice for a change.
But the additions, according to zap2it.com- Christian Clemenson is promoted to cast member and Tara Summers (don't remember seeing her in anything- anyone have opinions on her?) has been added. The big one though- John Larroquette joins the cast as a senior partner from the New York branch. I really like him, and it's ironic that his episode of "House" just ran yesterday. As excited as I am for seeing him, a little part of me is still upset about the continuity issues with him playing a different character on "The Practice" (Joey Heric, also a good character whom it would've bee interesting had he renewed that part on BL), and this one bugs me more because he was on for a story arc, not just one episode. I know people will keep coming on BL as different characters than The Practice, but I can't seem to help being bugged just an iota by it.

I thought at times, he was one of the funniest ones on the show, and I had really grown to like his character. I remember Zimmer from the end of Entourage last year, and although didn't like her at first neither, she grew on me quickly.
So 6 main characters now, I won't be surprised if this isn't the last set of cast changes. Although I wish Poole (Larry Miller) could make more cameos. As long as they keep it on air, that's all I care about.

Didnt John Laroquette play a homicidal maniac who got away with murder a few times on that show?

Yeah, I mentioned that in my post-lots of guests on BL have played other characters on The Practice.

In fairness, nobody does a shocked/outraged/befuddled reaction shot like Rene Auberjonois. And he did have that classic DS9 reunion scene with Armin Shimerman.

Yeah, it should, but we don't live in Shouldland! Ah, Shouldland, where clean-cut kids cruise Shouldland Boulevard, and the Shouldland High football team gets their optimistic asses kicked by their crosstown rival, Reality Check Tech. |
