that's not completely true; I went to the Program Files folder and ran the "webcam demo" which turns on the webcam and shows a presentation involving a lot of use of the webcam.
Problem is, the webcam icon is not where it's supposed to be- right there in "My Computer" along with Drive C, D etc. The Start Menu shortcut does nothing.
I think I might have disabled the process that runs the webcam when I was trying to fight spyware one time, problem is I have no idea what process runs the webcam and I dont want to turn them all on.
Well you could waste a ton of time playing with it, or just go download the driver from the HP website and uninstall then reinstall it. That will likely restore whatever you messed up.
- This problem happened recently? A week or two? Run our friend SYSTEM RESTORE. Start > All Programs > Acceeries > System Tools > System Restore. Use the wizard.
- If that don't work, as wmatistic said, download the HP driver.

Wait, no he isn't. He's serious. I hadn't read his previous brilliance before. I apologize" (in reference to a reply by James1978).
