Here are 217 DVDs coming out Tuesday or soon thereafter, according to Amazon. I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to less than 1% of these!
First, the
PICK OF THE WEEK: The Films of Kenneth Anger, Vol. 1 (The W at Amazon) - I hope I'm still going to heaven when I die, even if I DO recommend this
MOVIES NOBODY WATCHED (OR, WATCHED RECENTLY): Invincible Iron Man - get this: it's animated Marvel Animated Features Gift Set includes "Invincible Iron Man" PLUS "Ultimate Avengers: The Movie" PLUS "Ultimate Avengers 2" PLUS a BUST This Film Is Not Yet Rated - an in-depth (maybe a little TOO deep) look at the MPAA film ratings board - go figure, this film would have received an NC-17! Jesus Camp - speaking of still going to heaven...Ted Haggard's recent tribulations place part of this film in an unintended, yet much more cynical light Cocaine Cowboys - THEY say "The incredible true story that inspired 'Scarface' and 'Miami Vice'" and I say "well..." SherryBaby (2006) Maggie Gyllenhaal as a different kind of ex-con Sasquatch Mountain (2006) Lance Henriksen (presumably) does NOT play Bigfoot Room (2005) indie - executive produced by Michael Stipe! Yes, that's the most interesting thing I could find about this film! The Puffy Chair (2005) indie road movie dramedy about a recliner Time of Her Life (UK, 2005) ghost story Max Havoc: Curse of the Dragon (2004) Max vs. the Yakuza - I like the Yakuza P.O.E. (Point of Execution) (2004) Black Jack (Israel, 2004) Crooks (2002) aka "Errors, Freaks & Oddities" - retitled, released to cash in on a "Lucky Louie" connection? (Jim Norton's in it) Kounterfeit (1996) Bruce Payne, Corbin Bernsen, Hilary Swank Last Light (1993) Forest Whitaker, Keifer Sutherland Jacknife (1989) Robert DeNiro, Kathy Baker, Ed Harris Rubberface 1983 Canadian telepic features an early (ie unfunny) Jim Carrey appearance...aka "Introducing...Janet" Starcrash (Italy/USA, 1979) Christopher Plummer, Caroline Munro, Marjoe Gortner, and...yes...David Hasselhoff. I'm pretty sure this is my brother-in-law's favourite movie.
Welcome to Durham 3hr documentary about gang violence in the NC - directed by Christopher "Play" Martin (really!) - includes bonus CD Cowboy Del Amor (2005) documentary of American men finding Mexican mail-order brides
Dead Before Dawn (1993) & Fantasies (1981) Still another pair of TV movies - Cheryl Ladd's husband is abusive and hiring assassins to kill her! PLUS Bo Derek is 16 and maybe naked! assuming it's not a typo and this is actually the *1982* TV movie about a killer threatening a soap opera cast - WILL YOU GAMBLE THE $2.99 TO FIND OUT??? Dead Before Dawn Fantasies
Conflict (1973) & St Tammany Miracle (1994) TV movie based on Brian Moore's "Catholics," starring Martin Sheen - PLUS (for no additional cost) a movie about girls' basketball at a Catholic school starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar AND Soleil Moon Frye AND Steve Allen! I CANNOT make up a cast list like that, people! If you don't think you could handle them both, they are available individually: Conflict St Tammany Miracle
Summer City (1977) & Crazy Streets (1987) Australian "thriller" includes a minor role for a young Mel Gibson PLUS one of Alec Baldwin's first appearances in an NYC film where Debbie Harry has, like, three lines (aka "Forever Lulu") - if $3.99 breaks your bank, spend $2.99 for one of these: Summer City Crazy Streets
Deadly Justice (1994) & Taureg: Desert Warrior (1984) - one's a TV detective flick directed AND STARRING Brian Dennehy; the other is a Spanish/Italian/Israeli production starring Mark Harmon. Sure, put 'em together on the same release, why not. If you are as outraged as I am, however, you can purchase them individually: Deadly Justice Taureg: Desert Warrior
DIRECT TO DVD: Apocalypse and the Beauty Queen (2005) GamerZ (Scotland, 2005) - NERD ALERT Click Here (gamerz-the-movie.com) Living Til the End (2005) - better than living 'til the middle, I guess Troubled Waters - (2006) Jennifer Beals is still workin'! Relative Strangers (2006) Danny DeVito, Kathy Bates, Ron Livingston - man discovers he's adopted, embarks on...oh, you've heard it before. Supposedly, really awful Spin (2007) - it's like "The Mambo Kings," only with Reggaeton instead of mambo - and chicks instead of dudes - actually, it's NOTHING like "The Mambo Kings" - never mind Night Skies (2007) - a TRUE STORY of UFOs and ALIEN ABDUCTION makes for a REALLY BAD MOVIE Sabbath - VERY independent "goth zombie" film - Click Here (schottenfilmworks.com)
LOTS OF MEGAPACKS OF MOVIES YOU MAY NOT FIND IN THE IMDB: Apocalypse 20 Movie Pack - list (millcreekent.com) Beastly Butchers - Kill Syndrome, Season in Hell, Goblin, The Lunar Pack, The Tenement, Deadly Culture Sinister Souls - Cope, I Dream of Dracula, Unborn Sins, Sick Bastard, Bill Zebub's The Crucifier, Todd Sheets' Dominion Vicious Vixens - From Venus, Sandy Hook's Lingerie Party Massacre, Nightmare Museum, Rape is a Circle, So Mort It Be, Todd Sheets' Dance-A-Thon of Death
Ultimate IMAX Collection - ten movies which probably won't look as cool on your screen (Africa: The Serengeti, Alaska: Spirit of the Wild, Amazing Journeys, Antarctica, Australia, Bears, Great North, Lost Worlds: Life in the Balance, Ocean Oasis, Ocean Origins)

If anything, this movie is worth getting for the original music composed by Jan Hammer, which could be used to score last year's Michael Mann movie proper.

This one intrigues me. I'm going to the store to look for the "Extras" DVD, but if it's not there, I'll buy the two online.
