Rather than sidedrain the pederast thread, let me start a new one and say that my favourite ad I've been exposed to thus far has been this one (youtube.com) by Maryland senatorial candidate Michael Steele. (ALL his ads are pretty impressive, actually, but this one's funny, too.)

http://steeleformaryland.com/videos.htm for all of them in a non-YouTube setting

Anybody else have any they'd like to single out?

Christy Mihos, running as an Independent for governor of Massachusetts. My dad saw this on TV and sent the link to me. I have to admit, I chuckled.

"They're plump, ripe, and priced to move. Get your fat Samoan today!" (Packman V2)

Kind of in the same vein as the Michael Steele one, Ned Lamont (youtube.com) cranked this gem off before the primaries (note the Lieberman shot).

And for the record, his coffee's really not that bad.

Man, I loved that Lamont ad. Best part about it was, after the first time I saw it run, I didn't see another Lieberman attack ad for the rest of the primaries.

That first one Zed linked to reminded me of this one from candidate John Yarmuth here in Louisville. It's not quite light-hearted in tone, but the theme is the same.

Here in Illinois we have a race that makes me want to gouge my eyes out, as Gov. Rod Blagojevich (Dem), a corrupt nepotistic Cubs fan tries to keep his seat against State Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka, an angry crude obnoxious little gnome. I am voting Topinka because she wants to put a land-based casino in Chicago, which makes me happy. That is the only thing either candidate has said this race worth hearing.

That said, this ad (judyforgov.com) is entertaining just for how perplexed and confused Blago seems when asked a question by the press.

I have no link to share, but I came home the other day to like an 8 minute phone message that was supposed to be from an angry mother who wants me to vote against the Governor (Kathleen Sebelius (D)) because, among other wacky things, the Gov. doesn't mind minors having access to pornography. Then it implied that not only doesn't she mind them having access to porn, maybe she *wants* them to have access.

It was completely insane and hilarious. Unfortunately for her opponent, I used to be a minor who wanted access to pornography, so their argument didn't quite win me over. But I applaud their effort.

Mike Tyson Campaigns For Michael Steele

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio -- Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson is promoting his return to the ring, but he's campaigning for Maryland U.S. Senate candidate Michael Steele at the same time.

In Strongsville, Ohio Tuesday, Tyson wore a white and blue Steele for U.S. Senate T-shirt and said he used to believe black Republicans were "sellouts."

The 40-year-old Tyson said "We have to open our eyes more."

Hope we get some video of this one sometime soon

Living in KS, this is hilarious. We have a moderate Dem woman who has outsmarted the Reps hugely. This is a whacky Republican state. How the Republican party here is in this position is mindboggling. The neocon wing is slowly destroying the party where the average Kansan is squarely moderate.

What's missing from that piece is that Tyson was actually married to Steele's sister, so he has Tysons as nieces and nephews and can count Tyson as an ex-brother-in-law. (I had no idea!)

EDIT: I'm referring above to FLEA's quote article and not DrDirt's Amazing Kansan Experience. ;-)

If you mean "Heads Up", that one is HILARIOUS. Somehow, I could almost see Ned Lamont doing an ad like that if the Big Dig was in CT.

I like the call this ad the "hide the white women" special. Got to love the RNC for putting this one together.

Is Harold Ford a black guy or something? I didn't pick that up watching this ad. I'll go out on a limb and guess he's not Jewish or Hispanic, but that's only because his last name is FORD. Oh...Harold Ford JUNIOR! Like Ken Griffey!

Wait - I just Googled his picture. He looks like A-Rod. Now I'm *really* confused! Or entrenched

Which part is the racist part? Seriously, I am either really naive or totally missing something. (Or I'm white and DON'T UNDERSTAND....but hopefully it's okay for me to ask)

According the what I heard on the radio this morning, it is the part with the white "Playboy" party girl (the clip I heard, the girl mentions something about meeting Ford at a party) that the NAACP is claiming is racist. Sounded more tacky and tasteless (and probably therefore inappropriate for a campaign) than racist to me, but I am also white, so what do I know.

Apparently he was in fact at a Super Bowl party sponsored by Playboy.

I just don't know what the Republican Party could have done differently to avoid this controversy. If it was a black woman saying it, would that have been alright?

Michael J. Fox's ad for Missouri Senate candidate Claire McCaskill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMliHkTDHaE) is simple, but pretty effective. Stem-cell research is one of the big controversies within the Missouri Senate race, and McCaskill is using ads like this to differentiate herself from Senator Talent.

Of course, Rush Limbaugh immediately came out and accused Fox of 'faking' his symptoms (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/24/AR2006102400691_pf.html). I guess Rush just thinks that with a few dozen pain pills, Fox will be just fine.
