A few months ago, a poster "leaked" on the internet, apparently for Survivor Series 2006, with the DX and NWO logos in spray paint. The jpeg of the poster flaoted around, and most people dismissed it as a fake, though it did look pretty somewhat authentic.
What seemed to bring it mild credibility was that sites like pwinsider.com, pwtorch and Meltz all awknowledged it, and instead of outright saying it was a fake, they said basically the same thing: they dont know for sure that the NWO is coming in again, and they cant confirn the poster was a fake, though it likely was.
Last week in Meltzers daily update, he said that WWE creative was aware of the rumors of the NWO going around the internet, and they found it amusing. Dave then went on to say that bringing them in might be succesful in the short run to feud with DX, but not for anything longer than that.
Recently, WWE has thrown around NWO references through the last 2 Eric Bischoff promo's. Tonight on RAW, DX pondered whether they were NWO ripoffs.
After 4 years since we last saw the NWO, what would the pro's and con's be in bringing them back?
I like how you assume there are any pros. What the hell would be the NWO be at this point? Hogan, Hall and Nash? Three guys who are in no condition to work a half-decent match, be it through physical maladies or emotional ones?
Scene: Mark DeRosa's brain. The year is 2005. Part of Mark DeRosa's brain: Come on, another position change? One day it's second base, the next day right field, now it's third? Why, I oughta go into Buck's office and throw his talking fish on the floor! Other part of Mark DeRosa's brain: Hold on, other part of the brain. We're making $500,000 this year. Last year we made $725,000. All for playing a damn kids' game. This is, as they say in Brainland, a no-"us"-er. We're not going to complain. Part of Mark DeRosa's brain: You're right, dude. Let's go back to looking at this crazy porn Teixeira gave us!
I actually joked about this last week with a friend. We agreed that interaction between Hall/Nash vs HHH/HBK could be funny but other than that it is a trainwreck.
None of the NWO guys can wrestle any sort of match. If you put in Hogan you open up another can of worms as well. Basically it shouldn't happen. 10 years ago it would have been awesome. 5 years ago it would have been interesting. Now it wouldn't be any good.
If we got ahold of a time machine and got Hogan, Hall and Nash from 1996, it'd be pretty cool to see them against DX 2006. Now? It would suck, for all the reasons mentioned above.

I don't care if Nash, Hall & Hogan are 1,000 years old, I'd still love to see the feud go down. It's a chance to see arguably 2 of the greatest factions sqaure off ... Now granted it's not 8 years ago, but nonetheless, it makes my PS2 matchups seem to come to life.
When Vince McMahon abruptly stopped the NWO angle (right after Nash tore his quad on RAW) and said we've never see them again, I believed him. Maybe we're not supposed to remember that or maybe the NWO will emerge without his blessing (Eric/NWO vs. Vince/DX?). Either way, this is a BAD IDEA, even if the WWE assembles a knockoff team of WWE midcarders.

The thing to remember with the Clique members is that they have a tendency to bust ass when they work against each other, presumably out of a desire to make all of them look good at the same time. Nash's short run against HHH in 2003 was the best he'd looked in years, for instance. If they were brought in for a one-time tag match, and if the build-up was done right, it could be a worthwhile enterprise.
To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow
TNA, which won't even put Jeff Hardy's t-shirt on clearance, has already marked down the Nash t-shirt by 50%. Which leads me to think that he is not coming back.
Hall has been taking bookings in Puerto Rico, and is supposedly in better shape than when he was in TNA last.
And of course where ever money might be made there will always be Hogan.
I miss the Bischoff "GM Character" and I have always been an Outsiders mark, I would rather have them back than say Goldberg who is a even bigger waste of money.

Are you saying that Brian Adams, Scott Norton, Vincent, and Stevie Ray aren't available?

When was the last time WWE booking made sense? I would like to see the angle just for the trainwreck. The promos would probably be some of the best we have seen in several years, but I can't see the wrestling being anywhere above awful.

you can bet anything it will be awful, and I will LOVE it.
The atmosphere of such a match would be insane, that alone would put the match over even if it technically sucked.
Even if above-mentioned nash and hall are ok to wrestle a match... is Xpac anywhere near useable for this? I mean... the alternative is a 3 on 2 match... right?
This has a 0 to 10% of happening (I know this because I carefully calculated it, obviously).
But Im saying it would be something cool to roll out for mania. non?

No way they could stretch it out that long. They still have the fall team PPV, right? Maybe DX, Cena and somebody (Maybe one of the Divas - Mickie?) against Edge, Lita - and their surprise partners - the NWO. And I figure that's gotta be Nash and Syxx (to use his NWO name).
Xpac crosses over, they destroy the erstwhile Diesel and everyone goes home happy. This ends my fantasy booking career.
Or will Nash and Xpax help DX destroy Cena and Edge? Ooohhh - hey, it has some possibilities.
(edited by AWArulz on 4.10.06 0826) We'll be back right after order has been restored here in the Omni Center.
I don't know why you'd all be complaining if this angle actually went down.
Bearing in mind that Vinnie Mac enjoys having things WWF/E going over things WCW, this angle would probably lead to HBK getting that oh-so-career-needing win back against Hogan.
Which I am sure would make many of IWC pee their pants in delight.
Not to mention put an end to all those so very Christian-like potshots that came from HBK regarding the matter and the hypocritical ones that came from HHH earlier this year.
(edited by Whattaburger on 4.10.06 0743) It's just a message board, people. Chill out. Now, go show your internet disapproval of me! YEA!
With Hogan wanting to build towards a huge match against Big Show at Wrestlemania in order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of him facing Andre, Show could also come back to the nWo and turn on the Hulkster, maybe at the Rumble.
Doesn't sound too bad to me, but how they can sustain Hogan all the way to WM is the hard part.
