WWE.com (wwe.com) is reporting that it's due "elevated enzymes of the livers", which I have no idea what that is.

Anyone with that sort of knowledge care to speculate?

I have no idea what it is, but I'd guess the easy thing to do would just be to throw Matt Hardy into the match. Matt's still over, he's coming off a fairly big win over Kennedy, and hell, Finlay's first "feud" coming back was against Hardy.

Man, that sucks, because Lashley was finally getting a well-deserved push. And SmackDown's banged up enough as it is.

Matt Hardy seems like a good choice for a replacement, but if it were me I'd bring someone over from RAW. Who, I have absolutely no idea. Is Kane available? Sheesh.

Who needs a replacement? Send Finlay and Regal out there, tell them to work stiff as hell, give them 15 minutes and watch wrestling as its best.

Scene: Mark DeRosa's brain. The year is 2005.
Part of Mark DeRosa's brain: Come on, another position change? One day it's second base, the next day right field, now it's third? Why, I oughta go into Buck's office and throw his talking fish on the floor!
Other part of Mark DeRosa's brain: Hold on, other part of the brain. We're making $500,000 this year. Last year we made $725,000. All for playing a damn kids' game. This is, as they say in Brainland, a no-"us"-er. We're not going to complain.
Part of Mark DeRosa's brain: You're right, dude. Let's go back to looking at this crazy porn Teixeira gave us!

You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week.

"I'll pull for the Walcott girl..." (Nuclear Winter)

Sounds like that's the plan, if that WWE.com release is to be believed. At least it better be, although someone I talked to about it (just a friend, my one in with WWE works in master control and probably couldn't give a shit what goes on with the shows and so this wasn't her) questioned if they would try to outstiff Finlay/Benoit because it's a heel/heel match. Am I the only one who doesn't think that would be an issue?

Hmm. You think they anticipated his condition would come to a head before long, hence the strange decision to give the title to Finlay before the pay-per-view? With Lashley as champion it made the most sense; he'd have to face off against two members of Booker's Court. With Finlay as champion it was more like, "Um, OK, so Finlay has to defend against both a hated enemy and his stable-mate?"

It makes even less sense now, of course, though I still think it should be a good match. And best wishes to Bobby Lashley for a speedy recovery!

From personal experience, it's pretty much what it says...the liver produces more enzymes than it should.

When I had it, it caused extreme fatigue...I'd be dead tired at 2pm, even after getting 9 hours of sleep the night before. It sapped my appetite to the point where I simply didn't eat for days on end.

The good thing was that it was easily changed with a more balanced diet. No more plain white bread and Wendy's Big Bacon Classics for me...

WWE.com have yet to make mention of Khali's liver issue, which makes me think they'll do a storyline write-out on Sunday night. Khali or Daivari says that Taker has to prove himself worthy of facing Khali again after the beating he's been given, so they wheel out The Big Show to take his place.

I guess the Khali thing is an easier issue to get around than Lashley. They've established a problem with Show over the past ten days, which means he's an easy replacement. And it's a hardcore environment, so it's logical that Heyman would be cool with donating his champion in order to prove a point. They just gotta write Khali out of the match without making him sound like a total pussy, otherwise all the build-up of him will be for nought.

Also, using the Finlay match as a way of kickstarting a Regal face-turn against he and Booker is a champion idea.

EDIT: And whilst these changes are a blight in terms of booking, wrestling-wise they're almost a gift from the Gods. Batista/Kennedy will almost certainly be a better match than Batista/Henry, ditto on Taker/Show. And we've ALL been clamouring for a Finlay/Regal face-off since Finlay returned. With the tag title match and a strong-looking ME, this is actually shaping up to be a pretty watchable wrestling show.

To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. If anybody can turn face from this it would be Finlay. People dig the leprechaun.

And yes, it might be a stronger card, but that assumes Finlay/Regal will get some good time, and Show doesn't get destroyed by Taker (which would suck)

If anything, let's hope it means they will cut down on Batista/Kennedy time (no build/reason for that match so might as well make it a short squash) and give to to the CW and tag match.

Finlay turning face means he becomes the lovable guy with a funny little friend, which totally cuts the balls off of his character. He NEEDS to be kept heel for the Little Bastard schtick to work.

Testing blood is what I do. High liver enzymes basically means that your liver is working harder than it should and possibly is able to. In my experience I see it most often in alcoholics (or people on their way to becoming alcoholic) and people with/carrying hepatitis. Let's hope for Lashley's sake it's neither- that he's like Bullet and it's a more natural-occurring case that can be changed with diet.

Wow. Imagine if Khali isn't able to return for whatever reason...hard to believe they'd have someone come in, make 'Taker look like a chump, and then LEAVE without any comeuppance.

NO COMEUPPANCE.

Since it is 2 guys on the SD roster with liver problems, is it a good guess that there will be a mid-90's WWF type edict prohibiting blood in order to minimize the possibility of a hepatitis epidemic on the roster?
Hopefully, this isn't hepatitis, but, if it is, will Cowboy Bob Orton's medical history be brought up?

With all the liver problems, my conspiracy theory is that Raven came up and poisoned the WWE catering cart.

While on a first glance we are likely to get a better wrestling show, I gotta feel that some of the fans that bought tickets to this show live aren't going to be happy with the developments.

KaneRobot alluded to it, but it's true that the Taker/Khali feud was the biggest feud they had going. After Khali beat Taker convincingly in their last PPV encounter, I can see marks getting very upset that Taker won't be able to get revenge.

Furthermore, you still have at its core, a heel vs. heel match with Finlay and Regal. Some fans may like Finlay for his hard-nosed style (and for his midget), but still I could see a lot of dead silence for this match.

You couple these two with Batista facing Mr. Kennedy as your main event, and I could see where people might just want refunds for paying good money to see a reshuffled card.

Is the PPV even going to be watchable?

Seriously, when Mark Henry went down I was like, ok they be able to find some kind of replacement. Enter Kennedy.

Now, we've got Lashley out and Kahli. I'm really temped to not to go to the bar or even watch it anywhere else. I'll go to an MMO to kill time until the results pop up.

Though I wish them luck on being able to some how pull the miracle out of the crapper that is the Great American Bash.

I always feel a tad guilty reading all these real names and ages - like peeking backstage at Disney World to see Mickey Mouse take off his costume head or seeing the people making the Muppets move. Still interesting though.
