I just don't get it. His team put together a great tournament run in 2002, then a Big 12 tournament run a couple years later, but other than that the Tigers were abysmal during his tenure. How someone so highly sought after could lead a team that definitely had plenty of talent into the ground like this is beyond me.
I'm interested in seeing where he goes now. I can't imagine he'll get another D1 head coaching job, but maybe someone will pick him up as an assistant. The fact that there's even a question about that though shows how far he's fallen.
Quin Snyder is out as Missouri basketball coach, one day after saying he planned to finish what had become a disappointing season.
Associate head coach Melvin Watkins is expected to coach Missouri (10-11) for the remainder of the season, starting with a home game Sunday against Kansas State.
The school released a two-sentence statement saying only that Watkins would serve as "acting head coach" against the Wildcats. Snyder's resignation is expected to become official sometime Saturday after Snyder's lawyers and the school reach a settlement.
