Oy vey, it really looks like Henry/Batista really could be the next Holly/Lesnar. To those who forgot, that was a complete and total waste of time. The match itself was laughable and wasn't even Velocity quality let alone PPV.

Also...what was the point of Batista/Mysterio winning the tag titles, screwing Mexicools tag title shot, and then just giving MNM the tag titles back again?

Benoit wanting to wrestle someone seems pretty in character to me. He doesn't like to take short-cuts, so I don't think that makes him an idiot. However, now that the best of 7 series has degenerated into "substitutes" I say this pretty officially makes it a failure and inferior to the first one. Its representative of how inferior it is to the first series even, and how bad it is when WWE tries to rehash things WCW did.

So that Batista and Rey Mysterio could be WWE tag champs when they fought in the main event of Armageddon against World Tag Team Champs Big Show & Kane. Or is the "WWE" and "World" before Tag Team Champs the other way around? I can't tell anymore.

The main event was Taker vs. Orton in Hell In The Cell. The titles were not on the line and it really added nothing to the storyline in what was already a pretty cheap and mediocre match-up.

You got the tag champ labels right though.

To be fair, I don't think the Booker T injury was expected. They can't just scrap the series, and they can't let it go much longer and delay it until he's ready again. So substitutes is their only option right now. Well, that and forfeits. And let's face it, Benoit winning two matches by forfeit wouldn't help ANYBODY.

If Fit Finlay finally returns, put him in a ring with Regal and let the two of them just beat the living hell out of each other until one can't continue. Would be more watchable than Henry/Batista. And, with Mark Henry in a main event picture, one question has to be asked: Was the Yeti too busy to answer the phone?

Here I was, thinking the big COMEBACK was Fit Finley. (and yes, I was actually a bit excited about that) and then I get to the Mark Henry return. How disappointing. ALthough, I do actually enjoy Henry, but just not in MAIN EVENT! matches.

Still, I think practically everybody knows who he is. My wife knows who he is, and she professes to hate wrestling and only catches two minutes at a time while I fast forward through it on DVR. Plus we didn't even live together two years ago.

Through the years, through all the controversy and steroid scandals and PTC beatdowns and wrestler deaths, absolutely the only thing that has ever seriously bothered me about WWE is their obvious total disdain for women. I don't doubt that more than a few preteen boys' attitudes toward women have been shaped by the garbage they air on a regular basis. It's amazing this is a company with a female CEO -- maybe they're trying to prove something.

The question I have is can Fit Finlay still go in the ring? After his accident with the table in WCW, I was under the impression his leg was screwed seven ways from Sunday.

I question that, and the fact that Fit wasn't a kid when he was in WCW. He'd been around a long time at that point - so, he's what, Mid-40s, late 40s? And he's not what I'd call a household name, except among workrate fanatics. And he's been out of the ring a good 5 years (isn't it closer to 6?). I hate to say it, but I think I would almost rather see Mark Henry, assuming they use him well. (power matches)

Fit Finley and Mark Henry in the same episode and on the same show. I actually like to see Finley battle Henry and watch him try and chop the big man down.

The WWE World Title and the WWE Tag Team Titles are on Smackdown.

The WWE Heavyweight Title and WWE World Tag Team Titles are on Raw.

Let's unify the titles and move on. Then you can still have the US on Smackdown and The IC on Raw as a brand title. Having two world titles in one company is dumb.

Especially when Vinnie Mac actually referred to the Raw World Title as the undisputed WWE Heavyweight Title.

Too confusing...

Big Show: Why is he getting the Intercontinental Title shot and not me?
RVD: Ahhh...maybe 'cause you're a tool.
Big Show: Look. I am 7'2". I am 500 pounds. I'm a giant.

Having one world title between two shows that remain separate at all times is even dumber. You strand one show without a top belt for weeks at a time whilst an angle plays out on the opposite brand.

It wouldn't have to be that way. The brand that has the PPV that month gets the world champ for the month.

On the months it is a combined PPV then he travels between the two.

Look the better idea is to end the extension altogether.

To be fair, that was also during a time period prior to the creation of the U.S. Title. If you book it so that the U.S. and IC Titles are the #1 Titles on a show and treated as such rather than as trinkets, and the traveling World Title would be considered a super title, it could work. As the Paul Wight Face on RAW/Heel on SD has shown, they could even do that variant of the old NWA traveling champ, where the traveling champ would work heel in some regions and face in others. It might keep the World Champ off of house shows, but he can still do TV for both shows. And, it could provide an element of 'will guy champ is feuding with on other show attempt to interfere in the title match to cost him the title, or does he want him to retain the title so he can beat him himself.' Guy doesn't even have to interfere, just provides extra backdrop for the match.
I think to pull it off they probably would need to have the right top 8-10 guys on the roster to make the fans really care about all 3 of the titles, and they would need bookers who could pull it off. Shockingly, I don't think they have the 8-10 guys to pull it off, and I'd have even less faith in the current creative team to make it more than a 2 month stop-gap measure. Late '02, '03 and into '04, they might have had the right mix of guys if they wanted to do it properly, but with defection/death/injury/age, I don't see it going into '06.

A unified champion could work out IF the WWE were willing to write up a plan ahead of time.
Simply have the champ be required to wrestle on both shows and all PPVs. When the current champ loses he goes to the show that he lost the title. This also makes trades more common and would increase casuals fans viewing of both shows.
But the two World titles are a lot better than the tag titles. While it would be stupid (from a writing POV) I do think unified tag champs would be a huge help. Half the time I can't even remember who the hell the tag champs are at any given time because they aren't that important.

While most of your points make sense, this one does not. Until you can prove anyone would notice or care, maybe stay away from yet another "this is the answer to low viewership" theory.

Getting back to specific discussion of Smackdown, Booker T was hilarious on commentary, trying to cheer on Orton while still trying to deliver play-by-play and explanations of holds. I would pay money to see a Booker T/Stevie Ray reunion in the broadcast booth.

I used to watch Fit Finlay back in the early 80's in British wrestling bouts on UK television. I'd put him at nearing 50 if he's not there already.

It would be nice if WWE had used the Northern Ireland flag or at least the flag of St Patrick as opposed to the tricolour of the Republic Of Ireland at the end of the promo, but innacuracy is never their strong point as we know.

Ah, yes, the annual pre-Royal Rumble push of Mark Henry. I wonder who's gonna look really cool eliminating Henry from the Rumble this year? I'll say one thing for him, though-- Vince isn't likely to repeat the mistake of signing a big pile of suck to a ten-year contract anytime soon. (Henry's deal is up in mid-'06, by the way.)
