The interviews that occur months before the street release only bum me out when we get our hands on the game and find what they removed to meet that deadline.
I'll still get the game, but I wish we could match up against the legends occasionally during the season. If the WWE can trot out Slaughter for a match twice a year, why not include that in the game? And I assume, barring another stupid walkout, that Hogan will make the cut this year.

I agree about Hogan. I'd lump Steve Austin in there as well. Since Ricky Steamboat is now an agent, I'm crossing my fingers that he's included as well.

Have to agree there...although I've never been impressed with the Smackdown series in the first place. I keep hearing about how the gameplay has improved every year and it never seems to improve to me. Different strokes I guess. To be fair, I didn't play the most recent one from last year.
Of course, I might also be a tad bitter - I'm an XBox owner, so I have two options for wrestling games: Complete SHIT, or NOTHING.

I've gotten all the wrestling games made for PS1 and PS2, and the THQ games have been consistently fun to play. I can't say the bells and whistles -- backstage areas, plots, roster choices -- have been great across the board, but the create-a-wrestler option is always insanely huge. That's what I use to play the game 80 percent of the time.
The last game followed a downward trend as they added commentary and axed the roster and eliminated the option of playing other matches in the weekly shows other than your character's. But the use of weapons is more fun.
I still have a soft spot for the late '90s Acclaim WWF games with their vocal taunts recorded by the wrestlers and the animations.

"I just swallowed my tongue ring!" (headbanger Trasher) The awesome-est was that in the first of those games HHH (a blue blood back then) taunted something like "Go back to school" then in the next game he said "I thought I told you to go back to school!"
I hope they finally manage to have a good and large roster and keep all the cool options. The commentary doesn't really do much to me but it is entertaining. Personally I don't mind some cutting back on the season mode if it means a large and correct roster.
My favorite line in Attitude is from Kane: "Brzzzzz bzzzzzz zzzzzz zzzkane" Anyway, I hope in this latest game, they manage to balance things out a little. Why bother having so many characters in the game if there are about five of them that can easily destroy everyone else?
I'm just upset that despite their efforts to overhaul online play, I won't be able to humiliate Undertakers and Cenas with Chuck Palumbo. I love Chuck Palumbo in that game.
They better at least keep his "that kinda hurt my hand" punch.
God bless the men of 2nd Bn, 127th Inf, 32d "Red Arrow" Brigade, WI Army Nat'l Guard...good luck, and come home soon.

You can't beat the game-only Mr. Showtime's "You want ratings? Watch THIS!"

Ah, smark-friendly features.
LOL ...
Or Triple H's " ... and for that fat guy sitting on his couch playing this video game, let's get ready to SUCK IT!!!"
Now the rosters is usally "cemented" in advance. With the recent firings, and Brock signing again wonder what they will do if anything. I mean half the guys that would have or still are in the game got the ax this week.

Actually, I doubt many of the guys who were released this week would have been in the game to begin with. Charlie Haas, Maven, Mark Jindrak, and the Dudleys are the only 5 who were in last year's game. None of the others have done anything of note recently to warrant a spot in the game, except possibly for Matt Morgan.
If Brock truly is being signed again, he had better be in the new game. There really was nothing more fun than beating the hell out of him with Rey Mysterio and pinning him after a stolen F-5 back on Here Comes the Pain.
HBK: You’re flat broke aren’t you? MJ: Please let me wrestle on RAW! HBK: Fine, but I ain’t wearin’ no fruity tassels. MJ: Are these your mirror pants? HBK: Give me those!
This game looks fantastic so far, I can only hope all these features remain in the game when it's time for it to be released. I'd personally like an Owner Mode similar to TEW, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
And I think it's vaguely disturbing that so many people have the WWF Attitude voice-overs memorized! HA!

In the past, I believe Summerslam has been the cut-off date to "make the roster" in the PS2 WWE games.

Actually, I'm almost postitive it's Wrestlemania. That's why Eugene wasn't included in last year's version.
Tonight I wanna ruin my life, I wanna throw it all away, In a spectacular way
The best game-only character was far and away "The Governer" or "Guvna" as his bad-ass theme song put it. "I'm the Guvna Baby...gonna take you to my MANSION!" I've made a Guvna in every wrestling game I've played since. His finishing move is a DVD he calls "The Landslide".
Actually, funny Guvna story. I was playing RAW on Xbox with The Guvna (not for long, but the create a wrestler on those is quite fun), when I matched up with Crash Holly for the Hardcore Belt. After about 2 or 3 minutes of back and forth offense, he knocks me out of the ring. I climb back on the apron and Crash charges me. I hit grapple which, on the apron, is to grab Crash by the back of the head and plant a wet one square on his lips (called "Kissin' Babies"). This causes enough hit damage to send Crash's hat off his head STRAIGHT INTO THE AIR and off the screen...it also gave me the pin. It should also be noted that The Guvna is 6'6" and 340.
