We have two new "hunky guy" shows on VH1 for the summer season. Perhaps "Mr. Romance" on Oxygen did better than I would have thought. At any rate, fun beefcake for those of us interested in such things.
"Kept" is Jerry Hall selecting a "kept man" from an assortment of American guys. We need to "turn them into european sophisticated gentlemen." So far we've had them swim across the Thames (eww.), buy Jerry a gift, get makeovers & participate in a fashion show. I'm personally partial to Frank (Vince could cast him as Kurt Angle's kid brother.) & Jason (All-around top candidate) . Devonric is absolutely gorgeous looking. Anwar & Austen both have a good kind of "model look" to them, where Slavco & Ricardo are appallingly egotistical about being pretty (eww, as far as I'm concerned).
We'll see as we go along whether there's educational value to the standard American male from the show. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying the cutie boys.
"Strip Search" is Billy Cross, founder of The Thunder from Down Under, putting together an all-American male strip revue show. So far, he & co-hostess have been travelling across the US doing suprise auditions & open calls. They've just decided on the initial 15 -- from there, they narrow it down to 7. They have some hunky guys who can't dance, some dancers with sucky personalities, & some nice personalities who are absolutely pudgy. I'm thinking this is going to be a lot of Billy being frustrated, but Billy's pretty cute himself, so that may be entertaining. We haven't really had all the guys together yet, so it's too early to call any winners.
Each of these has had 2 episodes on VH1. New episodes on Thursday nights, with tons of repeats throughout the week.
Yeah, I saw something about that. He's got a pretty good website (franktrigg.com), & his blog there says that he's also on the card for UFC 54 on Aug 20. (If they schedule Sean O'Haire too, that'd be critical mass for me buying the event. :-) )
Meanwhile, I'm curious about the real reason that he was the 3rd guy eliminated from Kept. The stalker-guy & the short, nervous guy I understand. But there were plenty of guys to lose ahead of Frank, & Jerry's ostensible explanation of "I didn't feel I really knew him" reeks of "producers wanted him bounced for some reason". Maybe they didn't like him wearing his own merch any time he had the chance. It does seem that Frank isn't exactly shy about promoting himself. ;-)
Well, we do see Cap both in his Ultimate costume (which I hate) and in his classic costume with the real shield, so that's definitely going to get addressed. I also caught a glimpse of what looked like Cap breaking loose from somewhere.
