Fans of Firefly (like me) are rejoicing today, but reaction to the trailer from non-fans seems to be on the negative side. Universal made some...interesting...marketing decisions when they put this together. Some I like (focusing on the action and humor), some I don't (use of the words "rebels" and "empire", odd tagline).
After hating the theme song the first time I heard it, I'm now disappointed they didn't use it at all in the trailer. Not even a line about not taking the sky from me or something...
Odd that they would use the term "empire" given that they've been described as The Alliance all along. And technically they were rebels. Now they are just outlaws. Still, if non-fans are reacting to this as a cheap Star Wars knock-off, they should notice that its way more Western than Star Wars and there's a distinct lack of aliens. Still, I can't see this doing huge box office numbers. Joss just isn't a mainstream draw.
I'd still rather have a full season of the tv show than the movie, but oh well...
This should be awesome.

Injury prevention 4. Self-discipline 5. Sex (Trust me, you'll have a better shot with the ladies if you're in shape.)" -- Making the Game, pp. 14 - 15
I loved this show when it was on and I got the dvd set to see the series "finale", but it just ended with out any kind of wrap up. Jesus FOX blows! It's not like anyone's really watching the network except for the NFL, NASCAR, or American Idol--they should stick with the unconventional to separate themselves. But reality tv has killed the network series.
I'm really hoping this is good.
