Courtest of The World's Finest. It looks like, indeed, Justice League Unlimited (and, by extension, the Bruce Timm universe that began with Batman: The Animated Series) is coming to a close. The episode descriptions of the upcoming season are now up.

Of note:

-Captain Marvel debuts in episode 20, entitled "Clash". As far as I know, this is the first appearence of Captain Marvel EVER in animation form. Huzzah for Shazam!
-"Flashpoint" looks VERY intriguing and hints at the demise of the Flash...and Superman going ballistic.
-The Question looks to figure prominently into this season.
-Felix Faust returns! Whether Robert Englund reprises his role remains to be seen.
-The final episode, entitled "Epilogue", goes into the future and brings the Bruce Timm universe full-circle, centering around Batman and his ultimate destiny.

New episodes debut in April and it's looking like this series will go out with a bang.

Thanks. "Task Force X" is up soon?! Neato. I'm guessing that means the return of Deadshot and possibly Captain Boomerang (who made a quick appearance in Flash's promotional spot during Season 2).

In 1981, Filmmation produced the "Kid Super Power Hour with Shazam!". A Saturday morning cartoon split between Shazam and the made-for-TV "Hero High". The Shazam episodes were fairly faithful to the Captain Marvel mythos. Mary Marvel and Captain Marvel Jr were even regular casts members. You could probably find all 13 episodes on a bootleg/homemade VHS tape somewhere.

The show had a bigger emphasis on the Hero High stuff..you had to sit through almost the entire hour to catch a Shazam episode. "Hero High" was sorta' like the Archies in superhero costumes. In addition to the "Hero High" animated segments, I vaguely remember live-action segments of the cast as a rock group (as scary as it sounds).

Little known show, but a quick Google-izing turned up this:

While it certainly looks like they're closing out the Justice League after this season, it's not a given. While "Epilogue" sounds like a closer, it could just as easily be a device to make another change in the series, like how "Starcrossed" led into Unlimited. All this site gives are episode titles and a one sentence description, so I wouldn't call this a definitive source.

(I was like 'whoa' then I was like 'wait')

02/16/05 Up Front Press Release from Cartoon Network (ANN, via google)

Justice League Unlimited: This season, Black Canary, Shayera, Vigilante, Vixen and The Question step up to face such villains as Lex Luthor, Felix Faust and Tobias Whale. And Superman takes on Cadmus in a battle that will determine the future of the league. Twenty-three new episodes will air in 2005.

and later

Justice League Unlimited has been given the greenlight for a third season of 13 episodes, for a total of 39 episodes.

The way I do the math, that's 8 of season 3 this year, and 5 in 2006, which puts them a long way off from deciding the fate of the series. (50 seems to be area Cartoon Newtwork calls it and end, so it wouldn't be too much of a surprise they'd go for a fourth season.)

Wild Guess

If I'm familiar with TV Shows, I'm guessing Epilogue could be called Reset Button. Or at least Setting Up The New Concept.

Well, I did enjoy the episode for the most part. Especially Roberta acting like a decent human being, this season has been utter shit. The last few episodes, I have just fast forwarded.
