Caught a matinee of Robots with the little woman today. Didn't expect much going into it, so I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, the plot's a little on the cliche side, but it's good for what it is. But you won't be seeing this movie for the dynamic plot.
The animation is exquisite. Some of the best animation I've seen in a long time and the vast robot world is something to behold.
And, of course, the voice work is excellent. Robin Williams, needless to say, steals the show this time around. He's very fun to watch, given a good animation role. Not far behind, surprisingly, is Drew Carey. Call me crazy, but I liked his paranoid, cynical character. Of course, it plays to his strengths. And who doesn't love the work of Mel Brooks?
Thumbs up for Robots. Well worth a matinee ticket.
