Product Description: Calvin and Hobbes is unquestionably one of the most popular comic strips of all time. The imaginative world of a boy and his real-only-to-him tiger was first syndicated in 1985 and appeared in more than 2,400 newspapers when Bill Watterson retired on January 1, 1996. More than 30 million of the 17 Calvin and Hobbes books (all published by Andrews McMeel) have been sold. And now, we're pleased to announce that the entire body of Calvin and Hobbes cartoons will be published in a truly noteworthy tribute to this singular cartoon. Composed of three hardcover, four-color volumes in a sturdy slipcase, this edition will include all Calvin and Hobbes cartoons that ever appeared in syndication. This is the treasure that all Calvin and Hobbes fans will seek.
Steep price ($94.50), but I'm going to have to break down and get this when it comes out (9/1 supposedly).
Oh, yeah, maybe go through The W's "spend" page.

I guess it just bothers me that they're asking me to pay for many of the same strips twice. I love(d) Calvin and Hobbes, and would love to have this, but isn't it convienient that they release this so long after all the other books were printed? If I had known about this years ago, I probably wouldn't have bought all the other books and waited for this one instead. I know that's their plan, their way of making money, and I don't fault them for that. I just am not willing to fall for it and throw away a hundred bucks on something I already own.

Most of the collections were put out while Calvin and Hobbs was still running. If they'd pumped one out as soon as Waterson retired, then it would be a real slap in the face to people who'd bought all the books as they were coming out. | JayJayDean

I dunno. They're going to be hardcover, which is a plus. I could get rid of the other books, which I've moved with a few times and show wear, another plus. It's kind of like buying a boxed set from your favorite band, or not because you've got most of the CDs already.

Yeah, there's definitely good reason to want both. The CD Box collection analogy also crossed my mind. I'm just not sure the sentiment is strong of enough in me to spend 100 dollars on it.

Along with the super cool Far Side box set, I'd say Bloom County/Outland is the only other one deserving this kind of love. (Peanuts and Doonesbury being from outside the time frame.)
I don't think many people would want a Marmaduke or Broom Hilda Super Box Set.
