2-1/2 years ago, my best friend's 6-1/2 year old son passed away from cancer. A few friends and myself decided to start a foundation in his name, which you can read all about at: www.codyfoundation.com
We do two fundraisers a year, with all of the proceeds going towards childrens cancer charities. We just had our latest one this past Saturday, which went very well (raising $8,600 in one night). That evening we debuted the DVD we have been working on for the past month and a half. This DVD is 12-1/2 minutes long, and includes interviews with Cody's parents, two families from our town, one which had a child pass away and one survivor, and an interview of the coordinator of the foundation organization we go thru, all of which basically explains why we do what we do, tears at the hearstrings and sez "DONATE~!" (in a not as blunt sort of way).
My question to everyone is this: Is there anyway that we can get the DVD/video to play on our website without people having to download the entire 12-1/2 minutes of footage (like streaming video or something like that). Please help!
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

What format is the video in?

besides the streaming option, you can convert the video into a flash (swf) file. You then insert the file into your web page and it will play directly off the page.

This way the file becomes much smaller and more managable as well as eliminating the need to match codecs (mostly, a majority of people have flash on their computers. Lastly flash video looks pretty damn good compared to most compression

If you have access to the video as quicktime your best bet is Sorenson Squeeze Click Here (sorenson.com)
Otherwise, you can do it through Macromedia Flash.

See http://www.bytescout.com/swfscout_flash_demo_video.html for an example of flash video (googleing flash video will give you more examples) It also has links to other software you can use to convert.

good luck, If you need anymore info just post.

Thanks for the info! The person who takes care of our website is leaving tomorrow for a week, but when he gets back, I'll let him know, and let YOU know if it works. Thanks again!!!!!

The Huffington Post article (huffingtonpost.com) about iOS apps that upload contacts in the clear & store them on their servers is pretty concerning. Where I grew up, this would have been considered totally inappropriate & scandalous.
