As a Chicagoan, I of course loved seeing Ditka, Fridge, and McMahon on tv again. Could have done without Rodman in a bathtub, but oh well. I am just surprised that someone decided to run a national ad with those guys in it. I mean, I love Jimmy Mac and all, but does anyone under age 21 even know who the hell he is?

Ditka for his Cialis or Levitra or Propecia or whatever, and everyone just knows the Fridge. With McMahon I was like, well both those guys were Bears, so who could the guy with the shades be? And of course, shades = McMahon. I should have remembered that. I think he wore shades and a Bear jacket at the White House when the Packers won the Super Bowl (the year he was Brett Favre's backup). And that I definitely remember.

| #6 Posted on 7.2.05 0005.43 | Instant Rating: 3.36 | Although it wasn't my favorite, seeing MC Hammer in not one, but TWO commercials was the highlight of the night for me. The Lay's one was kind of a throwaway, but the Nationwide insurance commercial he was in was pretty good.
I'd have to go with the rest of the crowd and go FedEx as well... although I did appreciate the commercial with the guy getting the crap beaten out of him by the convenience store clerk. Overall, it seemed that the commercials weren't that impressive this year. Even the Budweiser ones, which are usually great, didn't have that bigtime feel to them.

I don't know why he wasn't wearing a headband with the name of the company/product written on it. That would have been a natural.

I wanted to like the Marvel Super Heroes Visa spot, but they could have TRIED to make the costumes look better than the Universal theme park characters. Nice surprise run-in by Underdog, though. And was the guy who did Spidey's voice trying to do Tobey or just generic nerdy voice?

I thought the Pepsi P-iddy thing was awful. Pepsi's kinda like the "Coors" of the soda world. They try and try to make these "funny" commercials, but they end up sucking (like those terrible Coors "are you ready for a cold one" ads a few years back).
I recognized Roethesliberger in the "Tomorrow" ad...but most of those guys I couldn't place. (Yes, I KNOW that was Jon Gruden in the Bucs shirt! I'm saving ONE reply)

Diddy Diet Pepsi spot, along with the Queer Guy in the other one. Also, the Bud Light parachuters one was good. Mrs. JJD like the cat killer one, and Izzy Jo popped for the monkeys EVERY TIME, so at least careerbuilder.com hit the two-year old demo I'm sure they were looking for.
EDIT: I DID like some of the movie ads, especially "Batman Begins" and the "War of the Worlds". I think I may kill myself before I see "Hitch", though.

I think the only other people I recognized were Curtis Martin (in the restaurant) and Daunte Culpepper (uhm, in purple).
Pepsi was meh, but they must be getting their scheduling advice from Blockbuster "Of Course It's A Good Idea To Run the Same Ad Twice Before the Coin Toss" Online. Although FedExKinkos was the big winner, followd by the Ameriquest ads.
I knew the careerbuilder.com ads would suck when I got the spam opted-in email telling me to watch for it (who the fuck uses a tag line like "Watch Us Go Bananas!" and thinks it's a good idea?) and, unlike the game, did NOT disappoint.

But yes, I have to go with the flow and give the best award to Fed-Ex. The group I was with were talking about every other commercial after it with regards to the rules. Sure, the Bud ad had animals, but it didn't have TALKING animals or cute kids.

The look on Carson's face was priceless. He must really like Diet Pepsi. 
I too enjoyed the FedEx ad the most. It was one of the ones my wife missed and it really lacked pop when I tried to recreate it for her. It was especially hard to re-enact the groin kick by myself.
The monkeys also work on 5, 7 and 9 year olds, as well.

I think that any time you see someone throwing back MC Hammer, that's a gem. The Ameriquest ad with the guy getting this shit beat out of him in the convenience store was funny too.

Some additional minor credit goes out to Lays (the MC Hammer getting thrown back over the fence got a huge response where I was watching the game, and people were making jokes over it the rest of the night) and the Visa commercial - but only for Underdog.
The cat killer / "you're being robbed" commercials were both awesome. I think they were for Ameriquest? Does that sound right?
Outside of that, there weren't a lot of other good ones - but I did enjoy the "Piddy" Diet Pepsi commercial the first time I saw it. After that, it got progressively more annoying, until I was looking to throw something at the TV. | Von Maestro

And for the purpose of condensing posts, we were both thumbs-in-the-middle for both The Simpsons and American Dad. We both laughed in spots, but not enough.
Although the thing we laughed at the most the whole night was the shot of Clinton in the skybox with the owner of the Jaguars talking Clinton's ear off and the camera caught Clinton with a look on his face, to quote The West Wing, like he was thinking of ways to kill himself.
